With the Government of Canada’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40-45% by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, electrification has emerged as a pivotal strategy, particularly in the transportation and building heating sectors. Our partnership within GSCC has enabled Burlington Hydro to cultivate strong ties with all levels of government focused on these goals. From residential and commercial customers to Burlington's youth, first responders, and our dedicated staff, safety is at the core of our mission. We demonstrate our commitment to public safety through our “Power to be Safe” campaigns, storm preparation messages on social media, safety tips on our website, attending and hosting public safety events, and a biennial electrical safety public awareness survey, among others. Earlier this year, we showcased this commitment at our 'Building Safer & Resilient Communities' Summit in partnership with the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, which focused on fostering community collaboration and resilience to address a wide spectrum of safety concerns (pictured). Our biennial public electrical safety awareness survey delves into electrical safety, aiming to gauge the community's awareness levels. It’s crucial that community residents not only comprehend but actively learn about safety measures around utility powerlines and equipment.
