This is the kind of inspiring story we like to see!! We've been following their progress for a while now and are glad that the story is getting more coverage. It's great to see the small guy making waves and leading the industry towards better buildings! https://lnkd.in/g2Uu6R_Y

Pioneering a patented monolithic biocomposite wall system for healthy, protective and durable homes and buildings.
About us
Calmura Natural Walls Inc. is a social venture on a mission to reduce the environmental impact of constructing homes and buildings. Their patented monolithic biocomposite wall system, using factory-produced, modular biocomposite panels and matching infill, is known to be flood, fire, pest and earthquake resistant and therefore highly climate-change resilient. The biocomposite panels are a platform technology with many use-cases for buildings, including drywall replacement, exterior retrofits, ceiling sound reduction, decorative finish, and mass timber dry floor topper panels. Calmura's vision and sustainability goal is to create dwellings that will last for generations while locking carbon from waste cellulose in the building envelope. The team has completed pre-pilot research and testing at FPInnovations-UBC, and is looking for strategic partnerships to scale their pioneering venture through pilot operations to full-scale regional production facilities.

This is the lane we are in with our #biocomposite #building #panel and #wallsystem. The #constructionindustry needs to get #carbonstoringbuilding happening as soon as possible to reverse emissions and begin #drawdown from the atmosphere using the most #efficient technology we have - #photosynthesis!
THE SMILE IS REAL. Chris Magwood, Manager of Carbon-Free Buildings at RMI, is one of the nicest people we know – and one of the finest minds. No one is better qualified to speak of the emerging possibility of a carbon-storing architecture, so we were thrilled when he agreed to help us put together this short video, "Carbon-Storing Building." Check it out ⬇ and check out the resources at the end to learn more! #builtenvironment #building #carbonstorage #architecture

Being both #circular and #lowcarbon (actually #carbonnegative) this is the kind of news we like to see for the future of the #builtenvironment! We are ready to set up to begin supplying this shortfall of materials needed. Please contact us to learn more or discuss further! https://lnkd.in/gpqtxusf

Looking forward to seeing more of these types of initiatives by the construction industry in 2024!
In a world that needs radical change, redefining the fabric of our built environment is a necessity. Bio-based materials can be carbon storing, biodegradable, and support local regenerative forestry and agricultural practices, all in support of a move towards a just circular economy and a climate positive future. MASS co-convened the Northeast Bio-based Materials Collective 2023 Summit with Ha/f Climate Design and New Frameworks engaging over 150 individuals representing the full spectrum of the bio-based construction value chain. Thank you to all that participated. Download the summit proceedings to learn more about our collective actions for an abundant future. https://lnkd.in/eDFDsWZW #biobasedmaterials #abundantfuture

We definitely need to see much more of this kind of initiative as hosted by MASS Design Group and supported by others in the bio-based building industry. Download the report from the 2023 Summit to learn more and sign up to get involved. We need to see this happening in all parts of North America to get more low-carbon, bio-based building materials to market, much more quickly than is currently happening! #biobased #buildingmaterials #greenbuildings #sustainablearchitecture https://lnkd.in/eDFDsWZW
