Last week, we shared exciting news about the CAMH Engage Gala on November 8th, celebrating the impact of CAMH research on mental health care. This week, we're highlighting CAMH Engage, a community of young professionals driving social change through mental health education and fundraising for CAMH. Their aim is to feature exclusive conversations about mental health from a variety of experts, including researchers, clinicians, business leaders, and more. Since it’s inception in 2013, CAMH Engage has raised over $1 million in funds directly donated to CAMH. CAMH Engage has a variety of fundraising events throughout the year to help change mental health care forever. Some events include, CAMH Charity Galas, Pickelball Tournaments and Summer Socials. In the next few months, we will be sharing more on the committee members and about the people behind CAMH Engage. #NoOneLeftBehind @engagementalhealth

Last week, there was palpable excitement on the runway and in the roaring crowd during our annual Suits Me Fine fashion show. Hosted by Canadian fashion icon, Jeanne Beker, clients walked the runway in outfits of their choice from the Suits Me Fine boutique. Suits Me Fine is a clothing boutique open to all CAMH clients to support their journeys from being event-ready to outfits for interviews. Thanks to the generosity of people in the community, CAMH staff and local businesses these donated new and gently used clothing are made available to our clients free of charge. Taking a moment to showcase this generosity and celebrate our clients, folks like Angel and Timothy added to the glamour and meaning of the day. As a former model who last walked the runway when she was 28, Angel shared how special it was to be able to feel this type of joy again. Timothy was first-time runway model and appreciated all the support and the community that came to the show. If you’re looking for a way to make an impact, consider donating your gently used clothing to the Suits Me Fine boutique visit https://ow.ly/3Z4V50TQ97b. #NoOneLeftBehind

We’re proud to announce the naming of the new Waverley House Secure Care & Recovery Building at CAMH, a state-of-the-art forensic mental health facility named in recognition of historic support totaling $203 million from Bruce McKean and Waverley House Foundation. This is the largest cumulative gift to mental health in Canadian history. Part of the final phase of CAMH’s redevelopment, the Waverley House Secure Care & Recovery Building will usher in a new era for forensic mental health care. The seven-storey facility will include 214 inpatient beds, clinics for patients receiving care in the community, recovery-based therapeutic spaces, and a secure outdoor space for treatment. The milestone marks another critical step toward breaking down stigma and building better mental health care for everyone. Let’s continue paving the path forward together to build a future where no one is left behind. #NoOneLeftBehind

Last week CAMH hosted over 60 business leaders and held its fourth annual Business Leaders for Mental Health Symposium that focused on Navigating Psychological Safety for Workplace Mental Health. Ryan Hughes, Chief Strategy Officer & Head of Client Success, Humanity Agency, shared his personal mental health journey, the stigma associated with neurodiversity and mental illness, and the important role empathy plays in fostering supportive workplaces. Attendees then heard from a compelling panel centered around the innovative ways CAMH is using digital tools and technologies to deliver better mental health care and more equitable outcomes for everyone. Business leaders also connected as a group to discuss what psychological safety in the workplace looks like and how to implement a framework and utilize best practices for safe and inclusive interactions. We are grateful to our business leaders who shared their thoughts on ways to prioritize mental health in their organizations. What were your favourite moments?
