October is circular economy month here in Canada and we proudly support the almost 300 facilities that are producing biogas & RNG. As long as there is organic waste produced from industry and households, there will be feedstocks for biogas. As part of the circular economy, anaerobic digestion can divert thousands of tonnes of organics from landfills to create energy and recover resources to produce organic fertilizer! About us
The CBA is a member-driven industry organization that is focused on building the biogas & RNG industry to its fullest potential in Canada. With more than 185 members representing project developers (agricultural and municipal), technology companies, consultants, utilities and affiliate organizations, we provide a uniquely strong perspective in advocating for opportunities, programs and policies as well as inform, educate and help connect like-minded companies and individuals to support growth of Canadian biogas & RNG. Join us in building the Canadian biogas sector. Visit our website to learn more about becoming a member and associated benefits.

Biogas has many benefits and is a key component of a lower carbon future, but there are many hurdles that still need to be overcome. George Dick from Dicklands Biogas was invited to speak on The Ag Podcast to share his experience with biogas & RNG. He discussed: ✔ how anaerobic digesters work, ✔the opportunity to reduce food waste and emissions through digesters, and ✔what needs to happen to smooth the path for more biogas & RNG production. Canada continues to seek sustainable solutions to combat climate change and renewable energy sources are top of mind. One of these energy sources is renewable natural gas (RNG). It’s gaining significant attention for its potential. RNG is an upgraded form of biogas! It’s interchangeable with conventional natural gas and can use existing infrastructure like the natural gas grid, appliances and equipment. It’s produced from the waste we generate every day, including agricultural waste, food waste, sewage sludge and landfill waste. The exciting news is RNG isn’t just a concept, it’s a proven technology already making a difference in our communities. As of today, Canada boasts: ✔ 33 facilities actively producing RNG, ✔ Over 40 additional facilities in development, and ✔ Nearly 300 operational biogas projects that also contribute to electricity generation and onsite energy use. Canada not only has the technology but also the infrastructure and workforce in place to significantly scale up RNG production. The ongoing success of these projects emphasizes the potential for RNG to play a critical role in Canada’s clean energy landscape. Stay tuned as we share more about RNG and uncover the many ways it’s already contributing to a more sustainable, resilient future for Canadians.

CBA's Jennifer Green is attending the Net Zero Edge, an annual event hosted by the Canadian Climate Institute / Institut climatique du Canada and Net-Zero Advisory Body (NZAB) - Groupe consultatif pour la carboneutralité (GCPC). Minister Steven Guilbeault discussed the government's climate plan and it was great to hear him recognize low carbon fuels and the balance they can bring to both the environment and the economy. #Biogas #RNG #Sustainability #NetZero
