Let’s set the record straight with these beefy facts! ✅ 98% of Canada’s cattle ranches are family-run, supporting local communities. ✅ Over 50% of the fat in beef is unsaturated, similar to healthy fats in avocados! ✅ Beef has 220% more iron than chicken breast—great for boosting iron levels! ✅ Canadian beef is doing its part for the planet. 1.9 billion tonnes of carbon are stored in the land used for raising beef, equivalent to over 2 billion cars’ worth of CO₂ emissions stored annually! After visiting the Ontario Beef Research Centre with Dr. Katherine Wood, we saw how innovative studies are reducing methane emissions and improving meat quality without sacrificing animal health. We Are Answering Consumer Questions About Animal Care The 2023 Canadian Centre for Food Integrity reports a consistent concern by consumers about the humane treatment of farm animals. In their 2023 Public Trust Report, 25% of survey respondents said they were ‘very concerned’ about this issue. Consumers need information about how farmers are caring for their animals, and they are finding it at Canadian Food Focus, a national website and outreach program. Canadian Food Focus emphasizes the topics that matter to consumers. It builds on Canadians’ fundamental interest in food as a gateway to broader discussions about agriculture. Where Do Canadians Go To Learn About Sustainability In Farming? In its 2023 Public Trust Report, the Canadian Centre for Food Integrity shared that almost one in five (22%) Canadians are ‘very concerned’ about environmental sustainability in farming. Learn more about our Indigenous recipe project that showcased traditional foods from Indigenous cultures prepared by Indigenous chefs and cooks.
