Catch Collaborative Psychotherapy
Non-profit Organizations
We’re a Toronto-based non-profit offering children’s mental health support and resources. Listen to our monthly podcast.
About us
We Believe Access To Therapy At School Can Change The Trajectory Of A Child’s Life. For more than 20 years our organization has worked with a select number of schools in the Toronto District School Board to support children who are struggling due to mental health challenges and behavioural concerns. Our in-school treatment program offers children up to 2-years of fully-funded, intensive school-based psychotherapy. Sessions are generally twice per week and aim to help parents, teachers, caregivers and students better understand, empathize and support a child in need. All of our therapists have extensive training working with children through The Canadian Institute for Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. In addition to our school-based program, we also provide a monthly podcast series, articles and resources focused on children’s mental health.

Attachment theory is getting a lot of consideration today because it speaks to our deepest fears that we are not paying enough attention to our infants and children. Children need caring adults to hold, watch, and interact with them on a daily basis, in order for them to learn how to develop healthy, enjoyable relationships. Mary Ainsworth, a Canadian/American developmental psychologist, demonstrated through her research, that children develop attachment “styles” and these attachment “styles” become a template for all our intimate relationships. Subsequent research has confirmed that the attachment styles developed in the first two years of life, powerfully affect a child’s confidence, self-esteem, and quality of intimate relationships, and that these attachment styles are resistant to change.
