We are thrilled to announce the 2025 International Women’s Day Keynote Speaker as Karen Sherriffs CEO of the Canada Games Host Society! Karen had a 21-year career with the City of St. John’s and led the 2025 Canada Games bid process for the City of St. John’s, leading up to the awarding of the Games in April 2021. Karen’s introduction to the Canada Games began 23 years ago in 1998, when she worked in the Sport Division with the Host Society for the 1999 Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook, NL. Since 1999, Karen has participated in eight additional Canada Games for the province. Her extensive involvement with Canada Games includes Team Newfoundland and Labrador Mission Staff and appointments by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador as Assistant Chef de Mission and Chef de Mission. Karen resides in St. John’s NL with her family and is an active volunteer spending many hours each week giving back to the community she loves. As CEO for the 2025 Canada Games Host Society, she is excited for the journey and opportunity to host the country in August 2025. We know Karen’s keynote will be inspiring and timely for this year’s IWD theme of ‘Accelerate Action’. Tickets are available now, and are limited. It felt like a natural way to grow my own business while expanding my professional network. After a couple of years, I saw an opportunity to join the board and decided to take a more active role.
