Our CEO Zak L. spoke with Canary Media this week about ChargeLab's continued work to migrate over 1,000 abandoned Enel X Way commercial chargers to our platform before 10/29, when the bid process with the liquidator will close. It is unknown what customers will have to pay to ensure their chargers continue to work after this month.

🔌 Industry Alert: ChargeLab Steps Up for Enel X Way JuiceBox Charger Customers 🔌 Let's discuss the important development regarding the recent announcement from Enel X Way. The company will discontinue its EV charging business in North America, effective October 11, 2024, leaving many customers, particularly commercial site hosts, in a challenging situation. Key Takeaways: ⚡ Enel X Way will cease operations for EV charging in the U.S. and Canada, with all residential JuiceBox chargers losing smart capabilities and reverting to basic functionality. 🔄 ChargeLab is stepping in to provide a solution for commercial Enel X Way chargers. They are offering to migrate compatible commercial chargers to their platform, ensuring that network functionality continues without interruption. 📅 Commercial site hosts are strongly encouraged to contact ChargeLab before the October 11 shutdown to discuss migration options and maintain service continuity. ChargeLab's President, Shaun Stewart, emphasizes the urgency for commercial site hosts: “We understand the frustration that commercial site hosts face receiving only 10 days’ notice before their back-end software services are discontinued. Our team is prioritizing Enel X Way customers who wish to migrate to ChargeLab.” While ChargeLab currently does not have a migration solution for residential JuiceBox chargers due to technical complexities, they recommend that utilities and aggregators remove JuiceBox chargers from approved equipment lists for residential programs. 👉 Call to Action: For any site host or employee impacted, let’s connect and support one another as we navigate these changes in our industry. Together, we can ensure that our community continues to thrive and adapt in this evolving landscape. #EV #ElectricVehicles #ChargingInfrastructure #CommunitySupport #ChargeLab #Recruitment #Sustainability

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗫 𝗪𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟭. It has been a wild two days since Enel X Way announced that it is exiting the North American market and leaving site hosts that use its commercial software stranded. ChargeLab is offering to migrate your JuiceBox chargers to our OCPP back-end to continue services like billing EV drivers and monitoring your chargers. Yesterday, we migrated our first two JuiceBox chargers. We expected to migrate dozens more today and this weekend, and hundreds next week. Here is what you need to know: 1️⃣ ChargeLab was actively collaborating with Enel X Way before Oct 2 to build a migration plan. Unfortunately, the North American EXW team working on this plan was laid off before the formal migration plan could be finalized. 2️⃣ Based on our experience before Oct 2 starting the migration plan and the fantastic work of our Engineering team immediately after the announcement, we confirmed an informal migration path for commercial Enel X Way / JuiceBox 2.01 chargers. 3️⃣ EXW Level 2 chargers require more than just changing a URL to connect to a new OCPP back-end; they require 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀. Someone technical needs to visit each site to perform specific steps that ChargeLab has meticulously designed. If you attempt to migrate with another provider and any one of these steps is skipped, the migration will fail. 4️⃣ While we are working on several ways to extend the migration window, right now, 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗢𝗰𝘁 𝟭𝟭. After this date, upgrading EXW chargers and connecting them to another OCPP back-end may be impossible. This is because part of the migration process involves pinging EXW servers to get permission to migrate. ChargeLab is ready and able to help you migrate your Enel X Way chargers by the October 11 deadline. Please contact us immediately if you wish to migrate. Some good news: EXW DC fast charger migration is much easier than Level 2, and can be completed remotely. To get started with your migration, contact us now: https://lnkd.in/gTvRXHHZ We are getting requests to migrate thousands of chargers, so please be prepared to sign a Network Services Agreement with ChargeLab so that we can prioritize your migration. We will only bill you once your migration has been successfully completed. Outside of this migration, ChargeLab is deeply committed to building the best charger management software in North America. We would love to have your site as a customer and help you grow your EV charging offering for years to come.
