Last Saturday, June 15th to be exact, while watching the Edmonton Oilers face off against the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals, an overwhelming and unexpected wave of pride washed over me. Reflecting back to 2016, when CIC Inspection & Consulting Ltd. completed its final steel inspection at the iconic Rogers Place Arena, we had no doubt that this day would come. We knew that one day, the Stanley Cup Finals would be held under its magnificent roof. We sat in the roof steel looking down and envisioned the Oilers showcasing their mad skills on the ice, proving themselves to be one of the league's elite teams, with Edmontonians rallying behind them. The fans would gather inside Rogers Place, filling the seats, standing in the Winter Garden, and watching outside beneath the massive screen. One day, we would all share in these historic moments. Rogers Place is not just a structure, it’s not just an arena; it is proof. A stamp in time dedicated to the perseverance and hard work of every professional and tradesperson who turned blueprints into a monumental arena. It holds countless memories for those involved in its construction, and its a place where Oilers fans unite to support their team. During the two years of construction, as we conducted steel inspections, walking along the beams and trusses; we often looked down into the bowl and imagined the ice, the Oilers, the fans, and the deafening roar of the crowd. We were excited about what the future held for Edmonton once the final rod was burnt, the last stud bent, the final bolt torqued, the last hilt was shot, and the last weld was inspected. Now, eight years later, we are finally living these moments in real time. The team at CIC Inspection & Consulting Ltd. is immensely proud to have been part of this landmark project. Seeing the joy and camaraderie it has inspired in YEG, we recognize how it has not only brought Edmontonians closer together but also cultivated a strong feeling of community among Albertans and dare we say Canadians as a whole. As the Oilers continue to make history on the ice, we take pride in our contribution to creating a space where unforgettable memories are made and community spirit is strengthened. Rogers Place stands tall in the heart of downtown Edmonton, a reflection of the dedication, skill, and passion of everyone involved. We stand with the Edmonton Oilers as they face off against the Florida Panthers tonight in Game 5. Lets Go Oilers! Lets Go!! #yeg #Edmontonoilers #Oilers #FloridaPanthers #StanleycupFinals #Letsgooilers
