As CIFAR continues to expand its global network, Stephen Toope, CIFAR's President and CEO, recently visited Japan to meet with top research institutions. On October 8, he visited the The University of Tokyo's IRCN (International Research Center for Neurointelligence, The University of Tokyo), where he met with Dr. Masamitsu Iino, Special Advisor to the Director, and Dr. Mayumi Kimura, Administrative Director. Stephen also heard a hybrid talk about the Moonshot R&D Program from Executive Director Kazuyuki Aihara. At the meeting, he formally signed a renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CIFAR and the IRCN on mutual collaboration. (Left) Stephen also visited the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and met with President Sugino to explore potential partnership opportunities between the JJSPS and CIFAR. (Right) We look forward to continuing to develop robust strategic partnerships — a key tenet of our new Strategy — with top global research organizations that share complementary ambitions to help deepen and scale our shared work.
