Clinical Psychologist | Child Health Leader | Pediatric Pain Researcher | Knowledge Mobilizer | Committed Mentor | Busy Mom
Just returned from an inspiring visit to Edmonton, where I had the privilege of connecting with so many incredible minds dedicated to improving women and children’s health. ✈️ On Day 1 at Women and Children's Health Research Institute’s 17th annual Research Day, I delivered a keynote, “Better Beginnings, Vibrant Childhoods, Empowered Youth: Research that Makes a Difference,” shared insights with researchers and trainees, and judged some truly impressive posters. 🚀 Day 2 brought me to the Stollery Children's Hospital & Glenrose Pediatric Pain Day, where I spoke on “From Research to Real World: Solutions for Kids in Pain.” It was wonderful to connect with so many pain champions and share ideas on advancing support for young patients. 🧡#ItDoesntHaveToHurt #NPAW2024 I’m energized by the dedication in our community to creating brighter futures for kids and their families. Thank you to everyone who made these events so meaningful! CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH) Solutions for Kids in Pain (SKIP)

Exciting progress update from Daniela O'Neill at University of Waterloo! #VibrantChildhoods
Professor/Entrepreneur at UWaterloo. I study children’s early communicative development & developed the normed Language Use Inventory (LUI) to assess this. I also conduct playful learning outreach in cities.
Underscoring the importance of knowing more about how language development in 2-year-olds is progressing, our newest #openaccess study is out! Using the Language Use Inventory to examine toddlers’ social pragmatic communication trajectories to inform clinical practice https://lnkd.in/ezB83-nc Many thanks to the local families who took part for a year🙏 This has been a busy year for research using my Language Use Inventory (LUI), a standardized parent-report measure for 18- to 47-month old children to assess social pragmatic communication! At the beginning of the year, I was excited to share this new #openaccess article on the LUI’s utility in identifying 3-year-old children at elevated likelihood of autism! Up https://lnkd.in/eCXDPgvm And the LUI was also included among these screeners for Developmental Language Disorder reviewed in this new #openaccess article! https://lnkd.in/esksPB4X If you are a speech language professional, clinician, researcher or early years specialist interested in the LUI, feel free to reach out to me for more information! Email is best doneill (at) uwaterloo.ca You can also see more about the LUI and its online platform at LanguageUseInventory.com Work from my lab University of Waterloo was funded by CIHR Institute of Human Development, Child and Youth Health (IHDCYH) #earlyyears #earlyyearsmatter #toddlers #preschoolers #pragmatics #socialcommunication #languagedevelopment #languageassessment #earlyidentification #earlyscreening #earlyintervention #childdevelopment #pediatrics #childhealth #speechlanguagepathology #SLP #SLT #DevLangDis #DLD #autism #WeCANforkids #ChildHealthCan #healthequity #CIHR #IHDCYH #headstart #UWaterloo #AcceleratorCentre
