    Meet our new CAO! We are delighted to introduce Tara Baker, the newly appointed Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Guelph. Tara brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in municipal administration with 13 years at the City of Guelph. She most recently served as City Treasurer and General Manager of Finance since 2016.  In 2023, she was the recipient of the Municipal Finance Officers’ Association’s Leadership Award for her contributions to municipal financial leadership. She is a member of the ONE Investment Peer Advisory Committee and was a member of the Government Finance Officers Association Rethinking Budgeting project team from 2020 to 2023. As a strategic and collaborative leader, she values transparent and effective communication, prioritizes digital transformation techniques, and embraces a continuous improvement mindset where perfection doesn’t limit progress.  As CAO, Tara is invested in building public confidence in local government, letting data drive decisions, and focusing on effective outcomes that will help enhance the lives of everyone in our community. The Alarm Room Technician (ART) will focus on call-taking and the expedient dispatching of resources, among other duties that support the delivery of emergency services within the City of Guelph as well as County of Wellington fire departments.     Team Guelph kicked off day 2 of the AMO conference meeting with MPP Marit Stiles and members of Ontario’s Official Opposition to discuss shared advocacy priorities. Later in the day, Guelph’s delegation also met with the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Infrastructure Amarjot Sandhu, and the Minister of Long-Term Care Natalia Kusendova-Bashta.    On infrastructure, Guelph’s delegation advocated for flexible funding programs that allow municipalities to invest in the highest priority infrastructure projects.     Team Guelph had a busy Monday at the AMO conference in Ottawa, meeting with Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Paul Calandra, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance Zee Hamid as well as the Minister of Indigenous Affairs and First Nations Economic Reconciliation Greg Rickford.     Among other issues, the Guelph delegation advocated for strengthened tenant protections under the Residential Tenancies Act, called for a review of the funding tools available to municipalities, and discussed ways in which the Government of Ontario can support Guelph to advance reconciliation.    To learn more about key issues and calls to action at AMO, visit https://lnkd.in/e9kdY5eE   #GuelphAtAMO #AMO2024
