This Sunday, June 23rd is National Hydration Day and it got us thinking about the word "Potable." We did a little research on the definition and a few of us found it interesting enough to share! Did you know ... The word "potable" is commonly misunderstood as meaning "non-alcoholic" or "non-intoxicating." However, its actual definition refers to something that is safe or suitable for drinking. Potable water, for example, is water that is safe for human consumption. It does not necessarily exclude alcoholic beverages, although it is often used in the context of non-alcoholic drinks. This misunderstanding might stem from the fact that the term is frequently encountered in discussions about water safety or non-alcoholic beverages, leading people to assume it exclusively refers to them.
