#FeatureFriday - The High Prairie Campus at Northern Lakes College is more than just a state-of-the-art learning hub—it’s a model for sustainable, net-zero design in post-secondary education. With 33 learning suites, 12 classrooms, and specialized health and trades labs, the campus provides hands-on training for students from smaller communities, helping to bridge regional workforce gaps. Designed as a living lab, it features exposed electrical and geothermal components, allowing students to engage directly with the building’s sustainable systems—reinforcing both innovation and workforce development. 🏗️ Sustainability is at the heart of this project. Built using Douglas fir and spruce pine glue-laminated timber (glulam), the structure has a lower carbon footprint than traditional steel and concrete. The sustainably sourced timber also supports reforestation efforts, making it a renewable, low-impact material. This week was all about connection and celebration at Clark Builders as our Women's Employee Resource Group honoured Women in Construction Week (WIC) both in the office and on-site! Team members gathered to recognize the incredible contributions of women in construction and to reinforce the importance of diversity and inclusion in our workplaces. Sites and offices enjoyed sweet treats from locally owned businesses, adding a special touch to the celebrations. A heartfelt thank you to Nurture by GROW, a female-owned social enterprise, EthniCity Catering, a non-profit social enterprise operated by the Centre for Newcomers and the Donut Man, beloved community-focused local bakery.
