Mentoring students through the mindset of world-class athletes. 🏅
About us
Classroom Champions is an international, award-winning non-profit dedicated to connecting students with world-class athlete mentors. Classroom Champions supports students’ social and emotional learning (SEL) and academic achievement, and provides curriculum and mentorship programs to districts, schools, and teachers to encourage children to achieve successful futures. Working with 200+ Olympic, Paralympic, university student-athletes, and professional athletes who volunteer as mentors, Classroom Champions has provided more than $10,000,000 in scholarships to Title I, rural, and Indigenous communities across the continent. Students participating in Classroom Champions see significant improvements in the classroom, teachers see improved engagement, and athlete mentors learn new skills to prepare for life after sport. Learn more at: www.classroomchampions.org. Classroom Champions was founded in 2009 by Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Mesler, and his sister Dr. Leigh Parise (Phd - Education/Social Policy) with a goal of creating meaningful change in high-need schools as top performing athletes interact with classrooms and share their own personal journey on the social and emotional skills that helped them succeed.

My favorite Gator retires tomorrow (edit: I mean favorite besides my own kid if course!)- my first Gator shirt was bought to show support for CT...who knew Carter would end up there. (Last time I was at UF I walked by and saw CT practicing..who'd have thought years ago). CT has shown perseverance in the face of many challenges- if you dont know his story google Christian Taylor. I had the opportunity to work with him with an amazing program called Classroom Champions (Steve Mesler, M.S.M., OLY ). that will always be a highlight of my teaching career. Forever my favorite Olympian!

This #CCFeatureFriday we are proud to highlight Paralympian & Athlete Mentor, Nik Goncin!🌟 Nik is a two time Paralympian in the sport of Wheelchair Basketball. Currently, he has his eyes set on qualifying for the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. He also competes with his local Calgary team domestically while not with the National Team. Outside of training and competing, he work sat the Children's Hospital building orthotics for kids! In the winter you'll find him in the mountains snowboarding and in the summer, most likely golfing or hiking with his partner and doggo. We'll be keeping a close eye on him this summer & cheering him on every step of the way! 💙
