Are you ready to lead in the age of AI? This research from Harvard Business Review reveals key abilities you'll need to excel in an AI driven future. Not surprisingly, the ability to provide context (to chatbots, agents or engineering teams) is the top skill that will determine your success. While EQ and Purpose are important, AI presents a new playing field for leaders. That's why I'm obsessed with the concept of context: How do we gather it, structure it, package it and deliver it to scale. As managers, we provide context all the time to our team members to help them frame their objectives and execute projects. The better we are at providing context, the more agency we can give them, which leads to scaling their ability to produce outcomes. The challenge for you is to transfer that skill into how you interact with AI. Are you simply asking questions or providing prompts OR are you first building out context for the machine? Notice how ability to discern answers or leverage algorithms is much less impactful on leadership effectiveness in the new world of work.
