Making my way to Squamish tomorrow to celebrate the (soft) opening of the Sp’akw’us Feather Park. So wonderful to see the successful integration of remediation, reclamation, and climate resiliency work with arts, culture, and community. Congratulations to Matthews West and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw on reaching this milestone. https://lnkd.in/gRCqtwvD

As part of our commitment to staff development and training, Core6 enjoyed a sunny day at the Omega Environmental Drilling Ltd. yard for our much-anticipated annual field school training event. We were able to cover a wealth of topics - drilling, well installation, well development, soil, groundwater and vapour sampling. Our team appreciated the opportunity for hands-on learning under the direction of our Training Committee. Thank you to Omega for hosting!

Today is Core6 12th anniversary and we would like to share some of the many highlights we had in our twelfth year. Core6 was successful in being selected as a preferred consultant for Fisheries and Oceans Canada for both Site Assessment and Risk Assessment services, we would like to thank DFO for their continued trust and engagement. We were able to secure a Certificate of Compliance from BC Environment and Climate Change Strategy for the future Newton Community Centre; a critical piece for this important development. We were also able to obtain a Release from the BC Ministry of Environment to support the municipal permitting process in preparation for the vital upgrades at the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. We continued our sharing of knowledge and developed “A Framework To Assess Climate Change Impacts On Contaminated Sites In British Columbia” for the Society of Contaminated Sites Approved Professionals of BC.  This framework provides guidance for the assessment of climate change impacts on contaminated sites. We presented on our work at a CSAP Professional Development meeting and the framework can also be found on EGBC’s website under Climate Change Information - Vulnerability Risk Assessments. Our hydrogeology services continued to be in high demand with our work on both the Oakridge and Jericho development projects in the City of Vancouver We signed on to the Net Zero Challenge and look forward to working on reducing our carbon footprint in the work we do.  We continued to grow sustainably adding 7 staff, including a Senior Project Manager.  Core6 is committed to being a Living Wage Employer.   Core6 had the honour of supporting the following organizations and charities over the past year: Lupus Canada, Vancouver and Victoria food banks, Family Services of the North Shore, and community Christmas funds within Musqueam Indian Band and the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm First Nation. We’d like to thank all our clients, our subcontractors and our colleagues throughout our industry that have contributed to our continued success.
