Welcome to the David Suzuki Foundation's social media community guidelines. At the Foundation, our work is guided by the basic truth that we are nature — all people and all species. This means we are all interconnected with one another. What we do to the planet and to each other, we do to ourselves. That’s why we’re committed to resisting polarization and divisiveness, and having honest and respectful conversations online. We hope that you join us in making our online community a welcoming and inclusive space.

About us
Through evidence-based research, education and policy analysis, the David Suzuki Foundation works to conserve and protect the natural environment, and help create a sustainable Canada. We regularly collaborate with non-profit and community organizations, all levels of government, businesses and individuals. Our mission is to protect nature’s diversity and the well-being of all life, now and for the future. Our vision is that we all act every day on the understanding that we are one with nature. Today, our work focuses on three priority areas: Climate solutions — We can overcome the climate crisis and create a promising future for all. Let’s work together to reduce greenhouse gas pollution, accelerate climate solutions and get Canada to act with ambition and urgency. Thriving nature — Nature is everywhere, and we’re all part of it. When it flourishes, we thrive — but there are limits to what it can support. Let’s respect, protect and restore nature so it can sustain all life. Sustainable communities — When we value connections to each other and nature, we all live better. Let’s reimagine communities to increase well-being and build vibrant, resilient societies that benefit everyone. Canadian charitable number: BN 127756716RR0001 US charitable number: 94-3204049

Climate change is making it our affordability crisis worse. A new report from the Insurance Bureau of Canada finds insured losses from floods, fires and hailstorms this summer totaled over $7 billion, making this Canada's most destructive season ever. We must act quickly on climate change to help address address Canada's affordability crisis.

📢 We’ve placed ads in major media outlets with a bold question: “If renewable energy is the cheapest option, why are we stuck on expensive oil and gas?” With the federal government’s proposed Clean Electricity Regulations, there is an opportunity to clean up Canada's electricity grid. We can have cleaner and more affordable energy powering our homes. Join the call for Renewable Power for All: https://lnkd.in/gfHQKX-y

The increasing frequency and intensity of unnatural climate disasters is terrifying and a clear call to do what we should have started decades ago - stop expanding oil and gas and begin a fair and fast transition to renewables. Say no to Big Oil: https://lnkd.in/gQKCd9d9

"Indigenous peoples know what it is to face the end of the world many, many times. And I think our stories give us a lot of guidance, and also speak to a life beyond the despair of the now." Powerful reminder from Daniel Health Justice on the importance of storytelling and the power of kinship as a resilient component of the Indigenous world. #IndigenousVoices

A new study reveals that not only is liquefied natural (aka fracked) gas not a bridge fuel or a climate solution as some have argued, but it is worse for the climate than coal. LNG's emissions are 33% higher over 20 years compared with coal's. Leakage from methane, a primary component of gas, is far higher than official estimates. This backs up what we found in our Burning Bridge report (https://ow.ly/XE4V50TGmFc). It's time to put an end to false LNG narratives that have no place in a heating world.

There’s no real reason for the climate and biodiversity crises to have gotten to this point, and there’s no good reason for them to continue getting worse. In his latest column, David Suzuki illustrates the dire situation Earth's critical life-support systems are in. We have surpassed six of the nine planetary boundaries that maintain a stable and resilient Earth. The good new is there is no shortage of solutions to change the systems that brought us to this point. https://ow.ly/IkGe50TCPmn
