Many leaders don't realize just how great of an effect their nutritional choices can have on the brain. Science tells us that eating well affects the brain at a molecular level, meaning that—in the simplest form—what we put in our systems has a direct influence on our functioning. Try boosting your servings of fresh fruits, vegetables, and high-fiber whole grains for a week and see what a difference it makes. #Leadership #Food #Healthy #Brain

In today’s eLeaderHUB live webinar, we were thrilled to be joined by our vibrant eLeaderHUB community, co-hosts Sandra McDowell from eLeadership Academy, Mike Lawson of CU Broadcast, and our two fantastic spotlight speakers, Emma Levez Larocque and Terri Cramb, to explore the critical topic of BRAIN HEALTH.   As leaders, our ability to think clearly and effectively is paramount, but how do we optimize our brain health to ensure peak performance, longevity, and overall well-being? Emma and Terri provided us with invaluable insights on how to fuel and move our bodies to support our brains.   Here are some key takeaways from today’s session: - Gut health is brain health: A healthy gut directly contributes to a healthy brain. - Movement is vital: Our bodies are meant to move. Movement boosts blood flow, delivering more oxygen to the brain and improving sleep quality. - Protect your brain: Regular movement and a balanced diet can help guard against neurodegenerative diseases. - Learn from the Blue Zones: These regions, known for their longevity, emphasize whole, plant-based diets, movement, sleep, and strong community ties. - Keep moving: Aim to move every 30-60 minutes. Start small—stretch, take the stairs, and keep it manageable. - Listen to your body: Do what feels good, and consider eating your largest meal midday. And most importantly, hydrate! - Small steps, big impact: Implementing these habits takes planning and prioritization. Focus on progress over perfection, and remember, consistency is key. - Eat the rainbow: A colorful plate means a nutrient-rich diet. - Prioritize yourself: This is a journey, not a destination—keep focusing on what feels good and makes you thrive. A huge thank you to Emma and Terri for their expert advice and to our eLeaderHUB community for engaging in this important conversation. We look forward to our next session, where we'll delve into the topic of TRUST!

This quote from Jim Goodnight, CEO of SAS Institute, is a great reminder about the power of seeing the best in others. People will often live up (or down) to your expectations. When leaders believe in and value the impact that employees can make, employees are empowered and inspired to perform their best. The philosophy has worked out well for Jim. Leading SAS Institute since 1976, he has overseen an unbroken chain of revenue growth at the company and helped it land on the Fortune Best Workplaces list.

Author and coaching pioneer John Whitmore once said, “Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is more often helping them to learn rather than teaching them.” While it might sometimes feel easier to tell people what to do, coaching is the best way to empower others to find their own solutions and perform at their best. If you’d like to learn more about building your coaching skills, join us in eCOACH. Most leadership experts agree that self-centered, narcissistic leaders lack the ability to build trust and inspire others in the long-term. However, the opposite scenario can be just as detrimental: leaders who consistently put themselves last may develop resentment toward their teams, leading to burnout and stress that ultimately undermine trust and inspiration. What can you do today to take care of yourself so that your brain is well-rested and focused? Take a walk, eat a healthy lunch, commit to going to bed early... it can be as simple as prioritizing your physical and mental health with one self-care action per day. #Leadership #Self-Care #Neuroleadership #MentalHealth

Self-care is the consistent practice of prioritizing your own needs, so that you can show up for your team and be your best for them. It involves giving your mind and your body all of the fuel and rest they need to perform at their best. To those of us who are drawn to the idea of servant leadership, putting yourself first can feel awkward, but putting yourself last will eventually lead to burnout and poor habits that will have a profoundly negative effect on your team. Commit today to prioritizing yourself more starting today; it will make you a stronger leader and set a good example to others that it's okay for them to take time for themselves too. #selfcare #Leadership #time

This quote from Simon Sinek reminds us that the most important part of every organization is its people. As leaders, it’s our job to ensure that employees love where they work and feel connected to the mission. When employees see the value of an organization, they’re more likely to perform at their best and provide better service to others.
