Neighbours Helping Neighbours

About us

Nestled along the bank of the Red River, Elmwood is home to some 17,000 people. Here you’ll find a rich cultural and social diversity, a thriving local economy, well-kept homes and streets, and beautiful parks and green spaces. Above all, you will find a caring community focused on the well-being and prosperity of its residents. To better serve this growing community, the Elmwood Community Resource Centre was founded in March 2001 by the Elmwood Interagency Network, Chalmers Neighbourhood Project, and West Elmwood Residents Association, in consultation with the Elmwood Community. In May of 2002, Elmwood Community Resource Centre, Chalmers Neighborhood Project, and West Elmwood Residents Association amalgamated their three organizations to create the Elmwood Community Resource Centre (ECRC). ECRC will oversee the work done by Elmwood Community Resource Centre and the community development initiatives in Elmwood.

  • Truth and Reconciliation Day Statement, by Executive Director Nina Condo. Today, on Truth and Reconciliation Day, we pause to reflect on the painful legacy of residential schools and the ongoing impact it continues to have on Indigenous communities across Canada. As we acknowledge this day, we honor the survivors, their families, and the children who never returned home. We must remember that reconciliation is not a one-time event, but a continuous, intentional process of learning, listening, and building respectful relationships with Indigenous peoples. At the Elmwood Community Resource Centre, we are committed to fostering understanding, promoting equity, and advocating for justice for Indigenous communities. We recognize that our work is part of a larger journey towards healing, and we pledge to continue supporting and amplifying Indigenous voices. We must also acknowledge the inherent value of Indigenous knowledge and culture, and the responsibility we all share in advancing the collective work of reconciliation. Let us take this day to reflect, listen, and commit to actions that move us closer to a just and reconciled future. Thank you to our former colleague for designing and gifting this beautiful logo to us as we continue to our path of reconciliation, relationship building.
