🎨 Last night we were pleased to host a busy and fun #RencontreDesignDeRétroaction in our office! It was a great turnout and the first #EvolveUX for about half of the audience. Thanks again to the wonderful speakers: 🔆 Rafael Suriani presented the new PixMob site; the audience loved the use of color in navigation and the striking videos. The website hit its mark, as everyone was wowed by the product that Rafael showcased so well. 🎵 Anna Chowattanakul shared a gamified music theory app, where learners have to identify the notes. EvolveUXers loved it and suggested introducing a learning stage, so users could practice on some exercises before testing their abilities. 🟢 Evolving Web’s UX Lead Thorgal Creuze presented the wireframes for a French-language school board in Ontario – and since it’s a current project, our whole team took notes on design and usability! 🇺🇦 💙💛 Karyna T. showed off her site for a by-invitation conference on the future of the great city of Mykolaiv (the conference is this Thur in Kyiv). It was a fantastic project aimed at telling the world about the conference and the hromada (municipality). Karyna’s holistic work as a government contractor included both digital and physical materials, along with the #BrandBook. One of the conference speakers is already asking Karyna to design their website! Our audience raved about the graphics, colors, and typography. The city is clearly in good hands. 🫶 🍁💙💛 Vladyslav Babenko presented the Hata na Mont Royal newest website. Yelyzaveta Kendzerska built it on #Webflow, and Vlad stepped in to help and make sure the design was responsive. The attendees suggested more navigation options and ways to highlight the striking video background.  💼 Last but not least, Manish Ramloll volunteered on the spot and showed us his portfolio, starting with a video game he recently worked on. Thanks for being game! ;) To spice things up 🌶️, we had the audience weigh in on the best presentation. Karyna won the popular vote and took home AirPod Pros as her prize! And Anna’s work came in as a close second. Sad you missed this? We host #EvolveUX regularly in Montreal and at conferences we attend. Watch this page to catch the next Toronto meetup in November, before our December EvolveDrupal Summit Toronto! #EvolveUX #ExpertDesign #WebDesign #UserExperience

🤝 Our team had a great time connecting with partners Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Gwinnett College, and The University of Georgia, and with Drupalers at #DrupalCamp Atlanta last week! 🎤 In case you missed it, here’s a quick overview of the #DCATL presentation by Daniel O'Connor: Web Design's Final Boss: Images? 🥵 It’s a common scenario: your deadline is fast approaching, and bugs are cropping up left, right and center. The hero banner is a disaster (forgive us, but it’s true). Your client is stressed that every image they upload in Drupal comes out with people’s faces cropped in half. The temptation is too real to add more hotfixes, more fields, and more convoluted instructions.🥵 ⭐ But what if instead we took a peek at the systems and concepts behind these elements? In a holistic and lasting approach, it’s all fixable with a combination of: ✦ Technology Solutions for Cropping: Drupal Focal Point, Drupal Image Styles, and native CSS/HTML techniques. ✦ Design Adjustments: Get rid of “pouring in” photo slots, “magic” photos, and text overlays. ✦ Content Strategy: Take careful stock of what the client already has, and continue building your team’s awareness of image guidelines. For more details, check out our upcoming blog post on the subject. But to get the full experience – and it is truly worth it – you will just need to catch Daniel at his next tour stop. At #DrupalCon Atlanta in March, perhaps? 😉

Learn why images are the "final boss" of web design via a visual walkthrough of the many pitfalls of a modern Hero component. We'll analyze why some solutions fail, and consider a holistic choice that takes into account: ☝️Technology solutions to help with cropping  ✌️Mindful design adjustments that make our lives easier 👌A content strategy geared towards helping content editors feel in control" Catch Josh Linard, Ankrish Khanna, Jacqueline Hoerl Smoak, Bruna S., and Daniel O'Connor in person to talk about our projects.
