This annual event brings students, faculty, and legal professionals together to recognize the important contributions and progress women have made in the legal community whilst drawing attention to the work that remains to be done. This year’s theme, “Fostering Community Building and Connection”, emphasized the importance of mentorship and support within the legal profession. Proceeds from the event were donated to West Coast LEAF, a Vancouver-based non-profit committed to advancing gender equality and justice through legal advocacy and systemic change. Representing Farris at the event were Partner, Michelle Moriartey, Associates, Mohnaam Kaur Shergill, Sandy Lun, and Articling Student, Sara Finnegan.

Farris Lawyers were out in full force at Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2025, the World’s premier mining and mineral exploration convention held in Toronto, March 2-5. From the Convention Centre, to the Library Bar and an epic gathering at Harriet’s rooftop, Farris was proud to host and facilitate our clients and friends as we explored business prospects, investment opportunities, and professional networks in the context of Canadian leadership and solidarity in critical industries. Farris LLP played a significant role in The Advocates' Society’s fourth annual BC gala (with the theme this year of BC in Bloom) held on March 6, 2025. Farris partner Ludmila B. Herbst, K.C., is the chair of The Advocates’ Society’s BC Regional Advisory Committee, was on the gala organizing committee, and spoke at the event. Farris was the floral sponsor for the evening, and attending at the Farris table were the following litigation associates, Allison R., Jonah Brook, Rachael B., Jacob Harrigan, Daxton Boeré, Mohnaam Kaur Shergill and Sandy Lun, articled student, Sara Finnegan, and incoming students, Rishabh Gunvante and Erik Bruendl. In honour of International Women’s Day, Farris once again partnered with Stronger Together Vancouver in support of their Workout For Women’s Day initiative - a coming together of local movement studios and instructors to offer fitness classes to raise money and awareness for charities that champion girls, women, and others who experience gender discrimination. Funds raised by the event will go to support the Battered Women's Support Services, Cause We Care Foundation and Dress for Success Vancouver.

Farris Partner, Matthew Pierce, recently presented for the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association’s popular “In-House Counsel Bootcamp” series. Matt spoke on the topics of privilege, confidentiality and conflicts of interest to a large audience of in-house counsel in a variety of industries and sectors from across Canada. Matt has a broad litigation practice covering a wide range of corporate-commercial matters, including complex contract disputes, shareholder disputes, corporate governance matters, construction and real estate disputes, and regulatory matters. Matt represents clients regularly in the courts, as well as in arbitrations and regulatory proceedings; he has made appearances in the trial and appeal courts of British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia. Farris client, Gate 22 Winery Acquires Adega On 45th Estate Winery in Osoyoos, BC. Al Hudec and Megan O'Neill are pleased to announce their involvement, as legal counsel for the purchaser, in another successful winery transition. The successful sale represents other show of confidence in the future of the Okanagan Valley. Congratulations to the retiring owners, Fred Farinha and Maria Nunes (the children of Manuel and Felicidade Farinha who purchased the property in 1966 ) and their spouses Pamala Farinha and Alex Nunes who founded the winery in 2011.
