This annual event brings students, faculty, and legal professionals together to recognize the important contributions and progress women have made in the legal community whilst drawing attention to the work that remains to be done. This year’s theme, “Fostering Community Building and Connection”, emphasized the importance of mentorship and support within the legal profession. Proceeds from the event were donated to West Coast LEAF, a Vancouver-based non-profit committed to advancing gender equality and justice through legal advocacy and systemic change. Farris LLP played a significant role in The Advocates' Society’s fourth annual BC gala (with the theme this year of BC in Bloom) held on March 6, 2025. Farris partner Ludmila B. Herbst, K.C., is the chair of The Advocates’ Society’s BC Regional Advisory Committee, was on the gala organizing committee, and spoke at the event. In honour of International Women’s Day, Farris once again partnered with Stronger Together Vancouver in support of their Workout For Women’s Day initiative - a coming together of local movement studios and instructors to offer fitness classes to raise money and awareness for charities that champion girls, women, and others who experience gender discrimination. Funds raised by the event will go to support the Battered Women's Support Services, Cause We Care Foundation and Dress for Success Vancouver.

Matt spoke on the topics of privilege, confidentiality and conflicts of interest to a large audience of in-house counsel in a variety of industries and sectors from across Canada. Farris client, Gate 22 Winery Acquires Adega On 45th Estate Winery in Osoyoos, BC. Al Hudec and Megan O'Neill are pleased to announce their involvement, as legal counsel for the purchaser, in another successful winery transition. The successful sale represents other show of confidence in the future of the Okanagan Valley.
