About us
First Nations Power Authority represents Indigenous and industry leaders in the development of environmentally-preferred power generation projects for the economic benefit of the Canadian electricity sector and all Canadians. Since our inception, FNPA Membership includes 27 Industry members from across North America and 25 General Members. FNPA’s General Membership—in combination of individual bands, Tribal Councils, and wholly Aboriginal-owned Economic Development Corporations—represents over 64% of the 75 First Nations of Saskatchewan and is currently expanding its Indigenous Membership across Canada. With over 1,300MW of projects under development nationally, FNPA and its Membership provide extensive power development expertise with a mandate to promote, develop, and implement capacity for Indigenous business interests in the energy sector. Our top tips for energy efficiency in your home: 1️⃣ Always try to buy ENERGY STAR appliances 2️⃣ Position your old fridge between 5-7cm away from the wall to optimize the cooling system 3️⃣ Try to use small appliances that use less energy 4️⃣ Always try to do a full load when you're washing clothes to save time AND money 5️⃣ Avoid opening the oven much when you're baking to avoid lost heat 6️⃣ Use power bars for your electronics that you can turn off to avoid phantom power 7️⃣ Open your curtains to brighten up and warm your home 8️⃣ Replace your current light bulbs with seasonal LED bulbs for energy savings 9️⃣ Use table lamps instead of overhead lighting as much as possible 1️⃣0️⃣ Fridges and freezers work more efficiently if they're full, but don't take this too far — leave some space for air to circulate Good luck with your energy savings! #FNPA #FirstNations #Indigenous #Inuit #CleanTech

Ressources naturelles Canada (RNCan) has shared a release announcing increased retrofitting efforts for buildings across Canada, a project FNPA is pleased to be a partner in! These retrofits will increase energy efficiency and savings while reducing emissions. The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources announced a budget of $4.3 million for five projects under the Greener Neighbourhoods Pilot Program (GNPP) and Energy Innovation Program (EIP).
