  • 🌟 Unmasking Ourselves: The Transformative Power of Dressing Up 🌟 Did you Ever feel like slipping into a costume was more than fun and games? 🤔 Let's dive into the magic beneath the fabric! Dressing up isn't just about the clothes; it's about stepping into a story, a character, and, sometimes, a whole new world. When we put on a costume, we're not just playing pretend; we're exploring alternate realities and tapping into parts of ourselves we might not even know exist. It's like a mini escape from the hustle and bustle, giving us a breather from the roles society often boxes us into. 🛏️ Imagine dressing as a mythical creature or a powerful warrior and feeling the strength or magic that comes with it. It's not just about the look—it's about the feelings and insights that emerge. 🌟 We see costumes as a gateway to self-awareness, a mirror reflecting hidden desires and strengths. 🎭 So next time you dress up, whether for a themed event or just for fun, remember: it's more than just fabric. It's a journey into the depths of your consciousness, a chance to discover and understand yourself a little more with each costume. 🎨 Let's embrace the magic of transformation together, one costume at a time. And if you're curious about how we weave these elements into our therapy sessions. We're here to support your journey in every way we can. 💬 Stay curious, stay magical, and let's keep exploring! 🌈 https://lnkd.in/gV5Rmt3X #FITWtherapy #Indigenoustherapist #albertatherapist #yyctherapy #SelfDiscovery #Transformation #CulturalHealing

  • Embracing Resilience in a Colonial World: A Journey of Healing and Hope 🌟 In a world shaped by colonial histories, the resilience of Indigenous communities shines brightly, illuminating paths of healing and mental wellness. As we navigate the complexities of modern life, the strength and wisdom of our ancestors guide us, reminding us that our stories are powerful tools for transformation. Growing up, I faced a healthcare system that often misunderstood and misdiagnosed the unique challenges faced by Indigenous people. This journey led me to pursue a path where culturally appropriate therapy isn't just a service but a calling. Through the lens of my Indigenous heritage, I've learned that true healing involves honouring our traditions and embracing holistic practices that resonate with our souls. Incorporating ceremonies, smudging, and traditional medicines and involving Elders in our healing journeys, we weave a tapestry of resilience that honours the past while forging a hopeful future. It's about creating spaces where Indigenous voices are heard, mental wellness is nurtured, and stories are shared in their truest form. As we continue to advocate for culturally competent therapy, let us remember the power of community and the importance of supporting one another. Together, we can break barriers, challenge misconceptions, and build a world where Indigenous mental wellness thrives. To all who walk this path of healing, know that you are not alone. Our stories, our resilience, and our commitment to mental wellness are the stepping stones to a brighter tomorrow. 🌿✨ #FITWTherapy #Indigenoustherapist #IndigenousResilience #MentalWellness #HealingJourneys #CulturalCompetence #CommunityStrength

  • 🌟 Embracing the Journey: A Personal Story of Healing and Advocacy 🌟 Hello, LinkedIn community! I'm excited to share that on October 28th, I'll join a remarkable panel hosted by Healthcare Excellence Canada during Patient Safety Week. The webinar, "Expanding Perspectives: Understanding and Reducing Healthcare Harm," will delve into the often-overlooked psychological, social, and spiritual harm in healthcare. As someone who has navigated the mental health system and experienced its challenges firsthand, this discussion holds a special place in my heart. It's a chance to share my story and advocate for a broader understanding of healthcare harm—an understanding that goes beyond the physical and embraces the whole person. This webinar is not just a platform; it's a call to action for all of us to listen, learn, and lead with empathy. Together, we can create a healthcare system honouring every aspect of our humanity. If you want to explore these important conversations, I invite you to join us. Let's broaden our perspectives and work towards a future where healthcare harm is a thing of the past. Thank you for being part of this journey. 🌿 To register for this webinar: https://lnkd.in/gz_du8_E #HealthcareExcellence #PatientSafetyWeek #IndigenousHealing #MentalHealthAwareness

  • 🌾 Reflecting on Thanksgiving: A Journey Through Time and Culture 🌾 This Monday, as we gather around tables filled with delicious food and warm conversations this Thanksgiving, I reflect on the holiday's roots and its significance in Indigenous communities. For many, Thanksgiving is a time of family and gratitude. But did you know that the essence of giving thanks is deeply rooted in Indigenous traditions? As Brian Rice, a professor and member of the Mohawk nation, beautifully puts it, "All of our ceremonies… have to do with giving thanks." The story of the "first" Thanksgiving in 1621 often highlights a moment of shared humanity between the Wampanoag nation and British colonists. They came together, sharing food and knowledge. However, the narrative quickly shifted as colonists brought disease and disruptions to Indigenous lands. Today, Thanksgiving can evoke mixed feelings for many Indigenous people. Some celebrate by weaving in traditional ceremonies that have been practiced for millennia. Others may feel ambivalent, given the complex history that followed that initial feast. This Thanksgiving, let’s take a moment to reflect on its layered history and the resilience of Indigenous cultures. Whether you're celebrating with family or taking time for personal reflection, remember the power of gratitude and connection. Wishing you all a meaningful and mindful Thanksgiving! 🍂 Warmly, Samaria Nancy Cardinal https://lnkd.in/gV5Rmt3X 🌻 #FITWtherapy #indigenoustherapist #Thanksgiving #IndigenousCulture #Gratitude #MentalWellness
