Congratulations to Dr. Sonia Singh and her team for receiving the Michael Smith Health Research BC 2024 Professional-Investigator Award. Dr. Singh, Peace Arch Hospital physician and osteoporosis consultant, has a legacy of having started the first Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) in B.C. at Peace Arch Hospital in 2015. Our hats off to Dr. Singh for being an early adopter of the concept of patient-oriented research and actively involving patients as partners in all of her research projects.
📢 ANNOUNCEMENT: We’re excited to announce the 2024 Scholar and Health Professional-Investigator award recipients! As BC’s health research agency, we continue building on our legacy of talent development and research capacity building. Through these awards, we are expanding support to researchers across the province to deliver evidence to improve the health of British Columbians. This year’s award recipients are investigating diverse research areas including: developing equity-centered language with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples to reduce anti-Indigenous discrimination in healthcare; co-creating age and dementia-friendly communities; and using an equity-informed approach to enhance care for children and youth with a neurological condition.
