Our December Building HerStory spotlight is on Alexis Wylie, Traffic Manager at Ballina Contracting.
Alexis originally pursued social work as a career, drawing from her own experiences with the importance of stability growing up. After earning her diploma in social services, changing circumstances led her to work as a Traffic Control Person to support herself. She never expected to be in Traffic Control 11 years later, but she hasn’t looked back since.
After starting as a Traffic Control Person, Alexis moved into health, safety, and training before transitioning to management and operations. She worked alongside Emil Anderson Maintenance for seven years before joining Ballina in 2021, where she has excelled and advanced from coordinator to Traffic Manager, demonstrating her agility and dedication in every position she takes on.
“My previous experiences and education have given me a lot of invaluable skills, such as communication, empathy, patience, and the ability to listen and connect with people on a human level. These skills help me to really hear and understand people…As a leader, it’s important to connect with those around you, making them feel like they want to work with you and show up as the best version of themselves.”
Everyone at Emil Anderson Group values your hard work and leadership, Alexis!
