  • As soon as we started writing the screenplay, we started thinking about how we would make 13 Miles. Every scene written had a plan for the possibilities of how to execute it, even where we would go to film it. Many of those scenes and ideas were later iterated on and improved as more options presented themselves. They say momentum creates success. That’s what 13 Miles was for us… the momentum of knowing how and what to film made the daunting task very manageable. With our next movie, The Quiet Canadians, this is one tactic we are employing again… writing with the process in mind. If you asked me tomorrow where we could film each scene, we would have an answer, and even a contact or resource to put the plan in motion to film that. It’s great to have a prototype for the movie already figured out… Https://https://lnkd.in/gKYi7UwB

Behind the Scenes: Kickstarting the Pre-Title Teaser for “Quiet Canadians” Progress is made by those who take initiative. We’re gearing up to film the pre-title teaser for our Canadian spy thriller, “Quiet Canadians,” and we’re inviting you to join us at the ground level. Our Vision in Motion We’re setting out to secure an iconic mansion location that embodies the elegance and intrigue of our story. Building an Exceptional Team As we assemble our cast and crew, we’re seeking top talent in visual effects, stunts, and cinematography. These professionals are crucial for creating the immersive, high-quality experience that “Quiet Canadians” aims to deliver. Why Start with the Teaser? Taking a page from our experience with “13 Miles,” we believe in the power of starting strong. In 2016, we began that project by filming key scenes over a single weekend, even before the full production was underway. This approach served as a proof of concept, igniting momentum and demonstrating our commitment. By focusing on the pre-title teaser now, we aim to: • Demonstrate Our Commitment: Show potential supporters and stakeholders that we’re serious about bringing this story to life. • Generate Early Buzz: Create excitement and interest that will carry through to full production. • Accelerate the Production Process: Begin refining our workflow and build synergy within the team. Your Role in Bringing “Quiet Canadians” to Life Independent films like ours rely on the support of people who believe in the power of original storytelling. Your contribution will directly impact our ability to secure locations, hire talented crew members, and bring this teaser—and ultimately the full film—to fruition. Your Opportunity to Make an Impact Independent filmmaking thrives on community support. This is your chance to contribute to a project aiming to define the Canadian spy genre. • People think independent filmmaking is: • A shoestring budget and no sleep. • Chasing festivals for validation. • Guerrilla tactics with zero structure. But great independent filmmaking is, in fact: • Strategically planning every shot to maximize value. • Building a dedicated audience before the cameras roll. • Leveraging smart distribution strategies to control your success. The second part is what makes your project stand out, and that’s how independent filmmakers turn a passion project into a sustainable career. Ready to go from Scratch to Screen? • Making The Quiet Canadians is not a solo venture. The real work behind getting a movie out there isn’t just what happens on set—it’s what happens in those coffee meetings, over phone calls, and through countless chats with people who want to help you make something great. Helena (my partner) and I have the luxury of each other as sounding boards for ideas and methods, and it helps also when we expand out even more. We have had some fantastic coffee “chats”lately with a few potential collaborators for The Quiet Canadians, and it reminded me why getting out there and talking about your project is so important. Every film needs more than just the person behind the camera. You need folks who can believe in your vision, expand your reach, and bring their own skills to the table. These aren’t people you ‘hire’; they’re people you partner with to create something bigger than you could alone. Finding good partners is like striking gold. A good partner isn’t just funding - they’re a second brain, your sounding board. A passionate marketer isn’t just someone who knows audiences; they help you find your audience and speak their language. None of this happens without conversations - genuine ones where you share your excitement and listen to theirs. Independent filmmaking can feel like a grind at times, but it’s these moments of connection that keep it alive. Every person who comes onboard brings new life and energy to the project. I’m reminded today that no matter what, a great film always starts with people coming together. You can join the conversation with our Insider Intel fan newsletter: HTTPS://https://lnkd.in/gVfRxNqc
