Taleb and his family moved into their new Habitat Home in June of this year. Their journey to Canada and ultimately to affordable homeownership was not an easy one. His family is now thriving with the safety and stability they have in their new home. Their Key Ceremony was an exciting day. They got to meet their new neighbors and celebrate with the many community partners, Habitat PEI staff, and volunteers who all had a hand in helping them achieve this goal. Are you or do you know someone who is in need of a hand-up into affordable homeownership? We are currently accepting homeownership pre-applications for those interested in living in the community of Georgetown, PE. After the speeches and ribbon cutting, it's move-in and show time! New Habitat Homeowners celebrate with Habitat for Humanity PEI, Community Partners, Volunteers, family, and friends, while receiving the keys to their new home. Key Ceremonies and Home Dedications are important celebrations in recognizing the hard work and dedication that it takes to make a families dream of affordable homeownership come true. Once Habitat Homes are completed and pass final inspection, they’re appraised and sold to the families at fair market value, with no down payment required. Homeowners make monthly mortgage payments to Habitat for Humanity PEI which will not exceed 30 percent of the household income – that ensures the home is affordable for the families. Mortgage payments are also deposited into Habitat's "Fund for Humanity" and are used to build more Habitat Homes. A home of your own is an opportunity to build strength, independence, and financial stability. It is a place to create lasting memories and provide a nurturing environment for your family to thrive. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of catching up with Sandra, one of our Habitat Homeowners, and Hazel, a long-time supporter of Habitat for Humanity PEI. Hazel has known Sandra's family for a long time and has made many very generous contributions to our organization over the years. Hazel has witnessed the amazing impact that Habitat Homeownership has had on Sandra's family, allowing them the financial stability to thrive in their education and careers. We were thrilled to be able to thank Hazel in person and to catch up with Sandra. We deeply appreciate the communities continuous support for our organization. We wouldn't be able to serve more families without it. 🫶 #ThankYou #Community #Support #HabitatPEI

If there wasn't already a #NationalJustinDay, we'd have created one. 👏 We thought there was no better way to tell you more about our Project Manager, Justin, than by celebrating his National Name Day! 🥳 Justin joined the Habitat PEI team in March of 2022 as the ReStore Manager, and now holds the title of Project Manager. Justin has a very diverse background in culinary, catering, automotive, property management, and manufacturing. Justin has won many culinary awards and you may remember him as one of the chefs at the Delta. Always on the move, Justin oversees our ReStore and all of our build projects. In his free time, you can probably find him in the middle of the woods milling and spending time with his friends - or on the road to his hometown, Souris. Justin, you've led us to achieve so much more than we ever thought we could, and you continue to excel in every project you manage. Thank you, Justin, for all of your hard work and dedication to Habitat for Humanity PEI. Give a round of applause for Justin in the comments! 💙 #Celebrate #TeamWork #Community #Support #Holiday
