Today, we mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🟠 Last week we hosted an event at ICBC’s Head Office where employees explored a curated library of books and online resources by Indigenous authors. This initiative, led by our Indigenous Relations team, is part of ICBC’s Reconciliation Action Plan to help educate employees on our shared histories and Indigenous experiences. It also supports departments in working towards their reconciliation commitments. 📚 This library equips ICBC employees with knowledge, empowering their learning journeys. By fostering a culturally- and trauma-informed perspective, it strengthens our commitment to supporting Indigenous Peoples in BC, ensuring employees are better prepared in their work. As we approach National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, ICBC reaffirms our commitment to advancing Reconciliation. We recognize our responsibility to better understand the histories, perspectives and needs of Indigenous Peoples, as customers, employees, and business partners. Our Reconciliation Action Plan guides us in this journey, focusing on accountability, accessibility, partnerships, and strengthening Indigenous awareness and representation within ICBC. In 2024, we celebrated a significant milestone by hosting the first Welcome Ceremony for new Indigenous employees. This event was an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the contributions of recently hired Indigenous employees, enhance cultural awareness and strengthen our commitment to Reconciliation. The Welcome Ceremony reflects the commitments in our Action Plan, by fostering inclusivity and representation at ICBC.
