This September was a historic first for Imperial as we hosted our first-ever National Indigenous Gathering in Cold Lake, bringing together Indigenous leaders and allies from all areas of the company. With more than 50 participants, the gathering was an enriching exchange of ideas, cultural practices, and learning. “Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many colleagues expressing a renewed energy and a sense of validation,” said Laura Bishop, our Indigenous Engagement Manager. We're still buzzing from the excitement of this year's #CalgaryCorporateChallenge! Our amazing team secured third place overall in the Orange Division with medals in the 10km run, table tennis, badminton, bocce, and the truck pull! 💪 More importantly, we also hit a major milestone, earning maximum points in the Charity Challenge by raising funds and awareness for nine local charities. Congratulations to the most recent cohort of Trade Winds to Success Training Society graduates as they complete their training and step into bright futures in Alberta’s trades sector! We are proud to support Trade Winds’ Residential Construction program, which is dedicated to helping Indigenous Albertans overcome barriers and build fulfilling careers in the skilled trades. A key highlight of this groundbreaking program? Participants work together to build a high-efficiency tiny home, gaining hands-on experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and more under the guidance of experienced Journeyperson Instructors. Even better, the finished home is donated to an Indigenous community or cause, making a lasting impact. With an 80% employment rate for its graduates, Trade Winds is creating meaningful opportunities in Alberta’s trades sector, and we are proud to be part of that success.
