110 years of excellence in the making! For reference IMSA was founded in 1896, 128 years ago.
We’re coming up on 110 years since a “traffic signal” was first used in North America. Electric Traffic Signals first appeared on Cleveland’s streets in August 1914, when the American Traffic Signal Company installed one of their “interlocking high reflector signals” at the intersection of E. 105th Street and Euclid Avenue. Designed by James Hoge, it had just two colors, red and green, with the words “stop” and “move.” Having spent this past Monday in Cleveland, I had a chance to ride the City’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system right through the historic intersection of E. 105th Street at Euclid Avenue. As with many other things, current technological progress has removed any history of past advances, but it’s cool to recognize just how far “traffic operations” has come in just 110 years!

Would this fit within the Motor Vehicle Act here in BC? How about the MUTCDc?
Think in-pavement lighting is just for pedestrian crosswalks? This installation at the active security gate in a southern Alabama Army base is our latest with partner LaneLight Traffic Technologies, Inc.
