We are proud to share that the Indigenous Prosperity Centre, a South Island Prosperity Partnership initiative, has been named to the Indigenomics Institute’s 2024 ‘10 to Watch’ List. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to Indigenous economic reconciliation and fostering long-term economic growth through innovative partnerships and community-driven initiatives. "As one of the attendees at the award ceremony, I found it to be a truly memorable experience," said Tarrin Sam, Communications and Engagement Coordinator. "Being surrounded by so many passionate individuals who share a vision for a thriving Indigenous economy was inspiring. Hearing the stories from fellow honorees reminded me why we do this work; it’s all about lifting each other up and making a real difference in our communities." The ‘10 to Watch’ List is an annual award recognizing leaders and initiatives that demonstrate excellence in advancing the Indigenous economy. Those named on the list are driving toward a $100 billion economic target by building unique and strategic businesses, partnerships, and initiatives that create value and innovation in the Indigenous economy. Being honored alongside other leaders shaping the future of the Indigenous economy highlights the importance of the work we do to strengthen Indigenous-led businesses and empower communities. A heartfelt thank you to the Indigenomics Institute for this acknowledgment, and congratulations to our fellow 2024 recipients.

It's been one week since I had the opportunity to attend the #Indigenomics on Bay St Conference. Kudos to Carol Anne Hilton, MBA, ICD.D and the entire Indigenomics team on a very successful second annual event. Sharing a few highlights, reflections and connections. A key theme for me was the ongoing work needed to shift mindsets and misperceptions around the perceived risk of investing in Indigenous businesses/projects: - Dawson Her Many Horses shared that data collection on Indigenous businesses is critical, but significant trust-building is required given the historical misuse of Indigenous data. Based on research conducted at #WellsFargo in the US, they have been able to highlight that the bank's average Indigenous commercial client is more profitable than their non-Indigenous client - Various speakers commented on how First Nations Finance Authority has completed over $3 billion in financing with no defaults to speak of, and yet lending to Indigenous communities continues to have significant perceived risk - The scale and sophistication of many Indigenous-led projects is often grossly underestimated, the First Nations Major Projects Coalition alone now works with over 170 nations representing over 40 projects, each at a scale of $100 million or greater In addition to reconnecting with well-established Indigenous fund managers like Raven Indigenous Capital Partners it was inspiring to see the growth of new Indigenous-led, impact-focused investible products from organizations like EntrepreNorth and Metis Settlements Development Corporation. Looking forward to seeing the growth and evolution explored at next year's event. Great to connect with Kristin Richard, MBA Brendon Grant, Barbara Engelbart McKenzie, EMBA, Fiorella Schiffino, CPA, Justin Bourque PMP., Daniel Fuentes Rodriguez.
