We strategically invest in inclusive economic development, diversification, and innovation in partnership with communities across Vancouver Island, the Sunshine Coast, and island and inlets from the Salish Sea to Cape Caution. We work in reciprocal relationships with coastal communities across the ancestral territories of the Kwak̓wala, Nuučaan̓uɫ, Éy7á7juuthem, Ligwilda'xw, Pəntl'áč, She shashishalhem, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Hul’q’umi’num’, diitiidʔaatx̣, SENĆOŦEN, Lekwungen, and T’Sou-ke speaking peoples. Independently governed by a Board of Directors and two Regional Advisory Committees which include more than 50 locally elected officials, MLAs and appointees from the Island and Coast, this exceptional team of leaders collaborate to set regional priorities and build vital multi-regional networks. Through a community centered decision-making process, funds are invested in a wide range of economic diversification and community building initiatives. To date, over $52 million in funding has supported more than 210 projects, resulting in over $288 million in new regional initiatives, creating an estimated 2500 construction phase jobs and 2650 long term jobs. The Indigenous Forestry Conference - IFC is underway! This event is a vital opportunity to bring together Indigenous leaders, forestry professionals, environmentalists, policymakers, and funding organizations to explore sustainable forestry practices and Indigenous stewardship. We are grateful for the opportunity to attend this year. We want to congratulate Aaron Stone for his new position as CEO at South Island Prosperity Partnership. His expertise and passion will be a tremendous asset to communities and businesses in the Greater Victoria region. As board chair for the past four years and as a director since 2015, he has made numerous contributions to regional economic development. We’re excited to announce Aaron Stone as our new CEO. Aaron, who announced this week that he will step down from his third term as Mayor of The Town of Ladysmith to accept the SIPP position, is a seasoned leader with a proven track record in driving business success and as a champion of holistic community prosperity. Along with serving as Mayor of Ladysmith, Stone founded Uforik Computers Inc. He served as President of the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce and Chair of both the Island Coastal Economic Trust and the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Prior to this, he was Vice-President of Business Development for Global Media before becoming Director of Interactive Technology and Marketing for the Vancouver Grizzlies.
