Last week I started by attending the Ontario Tourism Summit 2024, hosted by Tourism Industry Association of Ontario. Thank you Carol D. Greenwood for the invitation to speak to such a fantastic group of people. Andrew Siegwart what a great agenda and incredible host! Thank you for your transparency, optimism, and energy. What an experience, not only did I get to meet new friends, but this event reminded me of what Canada, and specifically what Ontario means to me. My family visited Canada many (many) years ago, when I was 14 years old during our summer holidays. I remember visiting many of the destinations highlighted at the Summit and feeling what an amazing and big country this was. Years later we moved to Canada! Now one thing I should share is that we visited in Summer and Moved in October… just think about that for a moment! HEAT to something called a “Wind Chill.” I will never forget sitting on the runway at Pearson Airport, looking at my Mum and asking her if we had gotten on the wrong flight, but that is a story for another post. Today, I continue to use our tourism sites as resources for candidates who look to move to Canada or across the country. The Summit was not only a reminder of ALL that Ontario has to offer, but also a reminder that the tourism industry is a vital lifeline to economic growth. The Honourable Stan Cho shared his personal story of being a second-generation Korean-Canadian. He made us laugh with stories about his family, made us think about protecting parental legacies, and talked about the collective collaboration opportunities we have for the sector. In addition to all this, I learned so much about Hamilton. The museums, the history, and got to stand on an America Football Field home of the Tiger-Cats. Finally, but most importantly, watching my first ever drone show was so moving. Indigenous Tourism Ontario presented and inspiring narrated show of the story of creation. Enjoy the pictures, but they don’t do it justice. Kevin Eshkawkogan thank you for sharing Innovative & Introspective Outlook for Indigenous Tourism Ontario. Also, I have to give Kevin a shout out for the best shot of the sunset over the Tim Hortons Field.

Feeling incredibly inspired after an afternoon with the team at Hope Blooms working in their gardens alongside my fantastic KBRS and Meridia Recruitment Solutions, a KBRS Company colleagues Fulton Logan Jamie Grant Brittany Neaves Shauna Cash Sophia Han Lam Rick Neima Christina J. Connors, PhD and Rebecca Barr. Hope Blooms delivers high impact programs and develops high quality, sustainable products for sale, all in the interest of driving long term impact in food security, sustainability, education, social inclusion and disrupting the cycle of poverty in our community. If you aren't familiar with the amazing story of Hope Blooms, I would highly recommend you check out their website (www.hopeblooms.ca) and watch this video of several young members of our community who were featured on Dragon's Den 11 years ago. Just make sure you have some tissue handy when you do! https://lnkd.in/eFxKg3W8 When I asked the amazing Jessie Jollymore, Executive Director of Hope Blooms, what businesses and community members who wanted to support them could do, she said simply to consider buying their product. If you feel as inspired as I did watching this video and learning more about their work (and want to enjoy their delicious, sustainable products) I highly encourage you to do the same. Thank you again to the whole Hope Blooms team, including Jessie Jollymore and Kolade Boboye, for all that you do and for having us today!
