🍂 Thank You for Making This Thanksgiving Special 🍂 We are incredibly grateful to our donors, volunteers, and supporters who made this year's Thanksgiving meals possible. Because of your generosity, we served around 600 meals to our residents at the Leon Shelter, Bay Shelter, and unsheltered neighbours through our outreach team. A heartfelt thank you to Kelowna-Mission MLA Renee Merrifield, Kelowna city councillor and NDP candidate for Kelowna Centre Loyal Wooldridge, and all the wonderful volunteers who joined us in serving the community. Your kindness truly touched the hearts of our residents. A special shoutout to our amazing kitchen team for their hard work and dedication in preparing the meals. On Saturday, we served a Thanksgiving feast with roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, roasted squash donated by Helen's Acres, and pumpkin pie. Monday's dinner featured ham with pineapple, scalloped potatoes, yams, and more pumpkin pie for dessert. The messages on the placemats from our donors brought smiles and comfort to many. The gratitude was felt by all, and these meals were made truly special thanks to each one of you. A Special Thank You to Costco! We are so grateful to Costco for generously donating the turkeys for our Thanksgiving meal tomorrow at Kelowna's Gospel Mission. Tomorrow, we will gather to serve a special Thanksgiving lunch to our 120 residents and 150 unsheltered neighbours. This meal is more than just food—it’s a chance to experience warmth, hope, and the kindness of our community. Our Thanksgiving feast, prepared by our kitchen team with love, will feature roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, and roasted squash donated by Helen’s Acres. Each placemat has a heartfelt note from our generous donors, bringing words of encouragement and faith to every person we serve. Celebrating 20 Years of Dedication! 🎉 Today, we’re honored to celebrate Sonja, our Recruitment, People & Culture, and Manager of Volunteers, who has completed 20 years at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission. Sonja began her journey with us as a volunteer in the kitchen and has since become an integral part of our mission and community. Her passion for people shines through in everything she does: “The most rewarding part of my time at KGM has been the incredible people I’ve met along the way. I’ve had the opportunity to work in many different areas and connect with hundreds of individuals, all of whom have shown generosity and compassion. Over the years, I’ve witnessed a lot of change, but one thing that has always stayed the same is the compassion and commitment to helping others. I’m deeply grateful for our volunteers, coworkers, and everyone we serve.
