About us
My years as a classroom teacher and adult educator have shown me that the best leaders create space for growth. Most of the skills we need to create a healthy culture are teachable. My approach is to build connections between experiences, prior knowledge and new knowledge. Humans learn best when they can relate concepts to life. That's the art and science of development and growth. Using my certification with trusted tools (DISC and Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team), I guide growth-minded leaders and their teams through a tailored, engaging, human-first approach to creating health. No organization should be stuck paying the price of broken communication and rocky relationships. Every team can learn and create what we all want - a place to thrive and do something that matters. Are you talking to a C-style? C styles will listen quietly and need time to process, so don't press them to tell you their thoughts right away. They are focused on the details, so don't make a claim without data to back it up (and don't just make things up as they will fact check you). Build in time for questions (they'll have a lot) and if you don't know the answer, tell them that and that you will follow up. Because they ask tons of questions and push back, they can come across as critical. If there are actions that come out of the meeting, follow up in writing (their preferred communication method).

I love small businesses! I love working them to develop their leadership potential. They will often ask me about a program and then they worry about the time and cost. I love asking them to give me their time constraints and then telling that I will custom design a program for them. How does that work? I share the topics I teach on and then we talk about how long they want the session(s) to be. One day. One off. No problem. I've done that. 2 hours each month. I will do that. 1/2 day quarterly. I got ya. I want it to work for you; for your people; for your needs; for your budget. Interested? Drop me a message and let's get started! I've already started booking into 2025 and I want you to have access to the development opportunities your people (and you) want!

Are you talking to an S-style? They are patient listeners and will seldom interrupt. You may have to ask them direct questions to get their input. They tend to take it all in and need time to think and reflect before giving their thoughts. They may not actively disagree or push back in the moment (unless it's about change). They tend to be quiet and even-keeled. They seek stability and so if you are talking to them about change, then deliver the message in small, manageable bits. Don't hit them all at once. Focus on the team aspect of what you are discussing as teamwork is very important to them.

Throwback Thursday: Aren't these kittens adorable? They make me think of trust. They are looking at me with such trusting eyes. Trust is the critical foundation of a strong team and in this Throwback Thursday post, I'm sharing a blog post I wrote about building trust. So much fun!!!! Are you looking for training, workshops, education or opportunities for your staff? Let's talk!!
I copresented a workshop with Glenda Sheard, Speaker/Coach on managing conflict this morning. I miss teaching. I really do love it. I had so much fun! The room was lively and interactive as we went through the content. Some of them learned new skills. Others learned that what they’ve been doing the right thing and now they have language to share it with others. Glenda and I are already talking about what we will do next. There will absolutely be a next!
