Last week, a number of our leaders and colleagues attended The Grace Hopper Celebration in Philadelphia. We are a proud sponsor of the conference, which is the world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists. The event is named in honour of Grace Hopper, who was a computer scientist and U.S. Navy rear admiral. The goal of the event is to empower tomorrow’s innovators and equip women in technology with the skills, knowledge and networks necessary to drive innovation and lead transformative change in the digital age.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of our initial public offering. We recently celebrated the milestone with a bell-ringing at the Toronto Stock Exchange. Over the past 25 years, we have transformed to be a global leader in the Insurance industry. Our colleague Candace joined the company in 1999 and has seen the growth first-hand. She shares her memories of that important day. Photo description: QUOTE When I started at Manulife 25 years ago, the world was panicking about Y2K and the cooler talk was all about reality TV shows. Manulife was gearing up for its IPO, a milestone that paved the way for incredible growth and innovation. Here's to a quarter century of adventures and successes and to many more decades of making decisions easier, and lives better. END QUOTE. Candace Cooper, AVP, Inforce Management.

We officially celebrated the 25th anniversary of our initial public offering with a bell-ringing at the Toronto Stock Exchange today. In 1999, our IPO was the largest in Canadian history. Today’s event is a great reminder of how far we’ve come and the pivotal role we play in raising the bar for our colleagues, customers, and the industry.

He's a seven-time Olympic medallist and tied as the most-decorated Canadian Olympian! We were honoured to welcome Andre De Grasse to our Manulife Canada headquarters in Waterloo recently, just weeks after returning from Paris 2024. The all-star sprinter joined President and CEO of Manulife Canada, Naveed Irshad, for an inspiring conversation about leadership, accountability, and trust – and why they’re essential for any #WinningTeam. Video Description: Please join me in welcoming Andre De Grasse. As I got to maybe 20 metres left into the race, at that moment, I kind of knew we won. It was definitely a surreal moment. What I told the guys is we have an amazing opportunity here to do something special that no one's ever done. I mean the last time we won a gold medal was in 1996. What makes a great leader? Some that's going to get the best out of you, right? As a human, you have a little bit of self-doubt in yourself that, you know, maybe I can't accomplish these goals. And then, that leader is telling you no, you can. That's why I hire a great team around me. I hire a bunch of coaches that are motivational to me, that are inspirational to me, that can kind of get me to that next step. Thank you for sharing your insights, and representing Canada with so much integrity.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. It’s a day to honour and remember the impact that residential schools had on Indigenous children and their families. It’s also time to reflect, learn and engage in meaningful conversation. Ojibwe author Jesse Wente spoke to our colleagues about his personal journey of healing, the importance of truth-telling and the steps needed to face the challenges ahead.
