🔦 We want to spotlight the Deconstructed Heart sculpture at Gaukel Street Parkette, designed for teenage girls! 💖 📍 Located in downtown Kitchener, it connects the city core to Victoria Park amidst a vibrant community. Research from Make Space for Girls and Growing up Boulder underscores the importance of inclusive spaces for teen girls. With their input, this sculpture offers a welcoming, playful spot. Creating inclusive spaces for teenage girls is essential for fostering self-expression and social skills. In today’s digital age, these areas foster genuine connections and promote inclusivity and empowerment. Reflecting teen girls’ interests ensures their voices are heard, boosting mental well-being and positive self-image. 🏡 "Bringing Home to the Unknown" in Regent’s Park is a thought-provoking installation by POoR Collective and students from Mayesbrook Park School. The piece explores themes of identity and belonging through a vibrant, functional design inspired by students' views of central London as a mythical place, contrasting with their lives in Becontree. This work is the result of workshops focused on the concepts of belonging and the activation of public spaces. 🎨 Public art installations like this play a vital role in fostering community involvement, offering a platform for local voices and stories to be heard and celebrated. They encourage public engagement and dialogue, creating spaces where communities can connect and reflect on shared experiences and aspirations. Part of the Becontree centenary, this piece symbolizes the students' vision of a space where they could truly belong. 🌍 #MASSIVartLoves #POorCollective #PublicArt #CreativePlacemaking #ArtInstallation #Becontree100 #CommunityArt

🌟 Celebrating Unity and Creativity in Toronto! 🌟 In vibrant, multicultural cities like Toronto, creating spaces that engage diverse communities is crucial. Today, we look back at the remarkable installation, ‘Islamic Gardens’ by MiPs (Muslims in Public Space) and plazaPOPS, which infused Scarborough's Wexford Heights with fresh creative energy throughout the summer. ✨ Although ‘Islamic Gardens’ has ended, it left a lasting impact by serving as a lively hub for various programs, making plazaPOPS a true reflection of Wexford's vibrancy. It highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Islam within Toronto's diverse tapestry. 🙌 Daniel Rotsztain, executive director of plazaPOPS, emphasized the importance of accessible public space, saying: “We want to work with communities to create a social infrastructure that represents them and expresses what their community wants and needs.” ‘Islamic Gardens’ set a perfect benchmark for activating privately owned public spaces to inspire connection and understanding. It reminds us to embrace and celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures that make our cities thrive. 🫶 📸 by plazaPOPS - Kat Rizza #MASSIVartLoves #PublicArt #CreativePlacemaking #CommunityEngagement #UrbanArt #Urbanism
