Ietsénhaienhs Morrison represented our community at the Assembly of First Nations Quebec-Labrador’s Forum on First Nations Language Rights in Saint-Sauveur, Quebec. It was an inspiring gathering of leaders and community members focused on revitalizing and protecting our First Nations languages. Melanie Morrison shared this powerful takeaway from the forum, "Generation X suffered identity loss due to the impact of residential schools, being the first generation raised without the gift of speaking our language from birth. While younger generations now benefit from a resurgence in our languages, Generation X did not have this opportunity. This powerful realization highlights the critical importance of our commitment to language revitalization. Our efforts today are a beacon of hope, bridging the gap and ensuring that the richness of our languages and culture thrives for future generations".
