If you’ve ever wanted to take part in democracy and you embrace new challenges, we’ve got a job for you! The Municipal District of Bonnyville is currently searching for candidates to fill the Returning Officer position for the 2025 municipal election. With updates to the Local Authorities Election Act that will affect both candidates and voters, we’re looking for individuals who are passionate about democracy on a local level, creative thinkers, and those who recognize the need for fairness, impartiality, and dedication to the community to ensure the October 2025 election is a success. The M.D.’s Community Action Grant (CAG) and the Donations, Sponsorship, and Recognition programs have been fully funded for 2024. Due to the success of the programs, the October CAG application intake has been cancelled. “It’s great to see the community accessing and using these funds,” said Reeve Barry Kalinski. “It really shows our non-profit groups are doing a lot of work that benefits the region.” The Community Services Department will continue to accept applications and requests for donations of in-kind and promotional items for the remainder of 2024. Council welcomed Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul MLA Scott Cyr at their September 24, 2024 Regular Meeting. During the meeting, Mr. Cyr heard concerns from Council ranging from rural crime to economic development. A recording of the meeting, including Council's discussion with Mr. Cyr, will be available at bit.ly/MDBvilleYouTube by end of day September 26.

SiteLink 2024 Guest Speaker Spotlight David Kalinchuk is a prominent leader in economic development and a champion for commercial and industrial tax base growth in Canadian municipalities.
