It's been a bit of a shakey morning with 2 localized earthquakes early. With a 4.2 occouring mid Juan De Fuca Straight and a 3.7 occurring in Chemainus approximately 30 min later. Did you feel it? Be prepared with a survival kit and an evacuation plan. #BCShakeOut is October 17 so it's a great time to get ready and know what to do in case of a major earthquake or disaster.

Product Change! Starting today, Medix EMS has released our new line of WCB First Aid Kits. On Nov 01, 2024 Worksafe BC has gone to a national footing for first aid requirements. Which means effective immediately, we have retired the soon to be outdated OFA 1 - 3 kits and moved to these awesome new builds. Due to popular demand we have build a whole new Advanced Backpack (without Oxygen supplies) that can be purchased as a standalone trauma kit perfect for remote high risk sites. New kits include: - WCB - T1 PERSONAL - WCB - T2 BASIC - WCB - T3 INTERMEDIATE - WCB - T3 ADVANCED BACKPACK (NO OXYGEN) - WCB - T3 ADVANCED COMPLETE (DUFFEL WITH OXYGEN) All kits are in line with federal CSA standards. Which means that you can take these kits anywhere in Canada and they will continue to meet the regs. Medix is also introducing a full line of CSA first aid kits in the coming days as we continue to develop new builds for our kits. We also have update modules coming out next week for those whom have an older style OFA kit and wish to update to the requirements only. We are extremely honored to be a part of a very significant ceremony of apology and day of healing with the Canadian Medical Association on Songhees Nation territory. The association will apologize for its role and the role of the medical profession in the harms caused to Indigenous Peoples in the health system, both through action and inaction. By way of ceremony in Victoria, BC, on the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋiʔnəŋ speaking people of Songhees and Xwsepsum Nations. We stand in humility and sorrow for the deep wounds caused by medical professionals of past and present to acknowledge the pain and harm done for generations past and present.

Medix EMS is excited to announce the return of a long time member. Paul Sweder joined our team 8 years ago as a casual medic and worked hard to ensure every time he put the uniform on, it was to help those in need. On Friday, he rejoined our team (after a 2 year hiatus) as our Provincial Head of Sales. He will be in charge of our mobile restocking services, direct to client sales relations and promotion of our industrial first aid services. We are elated to have Paul back in the mix and can't wait to see what's in store for this next phase of his career. If you'd like to get a hold of Paul, reach him on his email at Paul@medixbc.ca

Price Change Notification Due to rising costs of fuel and medical resources, Medix EMS is making the difficult decision to raise our prices for all operations. It has been 3 years since we have reviewed our pricing and considering the new factors of inflation and the cost of pretty much everything. We are being forced to adjust our pricing appropriately so that we may be able to continue to provide excellent services and living wages for all staff. While we do not relish the idea of costing our clients more in this current economic atmosphere, it is the unfortunate side effect of living in this current financial age. This pricing adjustment will take effect immediately, however clients whom have already booked or received a quote from our bookings team can be assured that we will honor the rates quoted as our commitment to you. We know that this will impact some of our clients decision process, but Medix EMS will continue to provide the same homegrown, compassionate and professional care to all clients that you have come to expect. This will ensure that we can continue to thrive and provide our clients, past present and future, the medical care they deserve. If you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to call our dispatch center at 250-893-3418 or email us at info@medixbc.ca. Thank you to everyone for your years of trust and loyalty.

We have kept this pretty close to the chest these last couple of months. Medic 101 was decommissioned 5 or so years ago when cost of maintenance was more than replacing her with a newer unit. Earlier this year nostalgia got the better of us and we just couldn't let this gorgeous unit collect mothballs. So for the last 6 months we have been quietly working away at a top to bottom restoration and modernization. Yesterday the Godmother 'Big Red' roared back to life! This is only step one. 101 was then sent to our Sidney station to get a full cleaning and start on the electrical work to upgrade the original wiring and lighting (in and out). Following that she goes into exterior body repairs, a fresh coat of paint and finally the application of our new Medix EMS colors. We expect to see 101 back in service early 2025. We are so excited to see Big Red back on the road!
