[Myriad Canada's new project to uplift impoverished communities in remote villages of Vietnam and Cambodia] Despite rapid sustainable development in Vietnam and Cambodia, a large majority of the population is facing economic hardship. Millions of people, notably in rural areas, experience persistent poverty due to inadequate healthcare and prevention services. Debt and disability remains driven by limited access to banks and high education costs. This financial burden deters children from completing their schooling, pushing them to resort to low-paying, dangerous jobs. Women and girls are particularly vulnerable, as these circumstances can lead to domestic abuse. To help these communities, Myriad Canada is proud to announce a new project with our implementing partner Mekong Plus - L'Officiel. Project goals include delivering training and microcredit to over 1,000 households a year to boost their incomes, 3,500 scholarships to children and preventative health training to at least 1,000 woman per year. Mekong Plus (MPlus) is an international NGO founded by Belgian and French volunteers, dedicated to reducing rural poverty in Vietnam and Cambodia. Since its expansion into Rumdoul, Svay Rieng, in 2009, MPlus has implemented programs in agriculture, health, and employment for local women. The organization focuses on improving living standards, particularly for women and children. Its mission emphasizes collaboration with local partners to foster sustainable development and enhance the capacity of disadvantaged communities. #youth #HumanitarianAid #education #SupportWomen Myriad Alliance Fondation Roi Baudouin Give2Asia Myriad USA To find out more and support this project: https://lnkd.in/ee2RNPC3

Connecting Canadians to their favourite charitable causes, anywhere in the world.
About us
Myriad Canada, formerly KBF CANADA, was established at the initiative of the Brussels-based King Baudouin Foundation. We work with Canadian donors to manage charitable projects in the United States, Africa, Asia, Europe, Central America and Latin America. We are registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as a charitable organization and oversee charitable projects abroad. We craft personalized solutions for one-time gifts or recurring donations through Donor Advised Funds. We provide the due diligence and oversight that charitable projects require in order for donors to receive charitable tax receipts for their gifts. The way in which projects are carried out and donations are spent is tightly controlled and monitored, and is governed by two priorities: have a clear and concrete impact, and minimize management fees as much as possible. Myriad Canada is a member of the “Myriad Alliance for Borderless Giving” which was developed in response to the substantial obstacles presented by international giving. With offices in Canada, the US, Europe, Asia Australia and New Zealand, Myriad unlocks the potential of charitable giving and international solidarity – from anywhere, to anywhere. Myriad Canada has access to a strong international network and extensive practical expertise and knowledge as a result of 44 years of relationships built through the KBF family. The King Baudouin Foundation based in Brussels was set up in 1976 and currently holds $2 billion in endowment and donor-advised funds and has an annual operating budget of approximately $150 million. Our shared values are independence, integrity and transparency, diversity and international solidarity.

Last Wednesday, at the “International Cooperation Futures Forum” organized by Cooperation Canada, our Executive Director Benoit Fontaine took part in the session “The Future is Philanthropic: Engaging and leveraging philanthropy for global impact”. This session, moderated by Shannon Kindornay, Chief Operations Officer, Cooperation Canada, discussed opportunities for engagement between philanthropy and other actors to build a better world. Among the topics discussed were the importance of advocacy to achieve a systemic goal, of being long-term oriented and flexible (not only in narrative but also in practice!), of promoting a culture of transparency with implementing partners, of working with local leaders and of supporting a culture of philanthropy in developing countries. This week, we had the privilege of meeting Olivier Vandecasteele, founder of Protect Humanitarians, during a conference in Ottawa and a meeting in Montreal. Our discussions focused on the key challenges in the humanitarian sector and the objectives of this NGO. Protect Humanitarians is committed to providing medical, material, and legal support to humanitarian workers facing emergencies, while also fostering the exchange of best practices to improve psychological and legal aid for those impacted by attacks. Their work is a crucial reminder of the need to protect those who dedicate their lives to helping others, and to raise awareness among decision-makers and the public about these ongoing risks. [Myriad Canada's new Youth Mental Health project with the Born This Way Foundation] Over the past few years, we’ve experienced a number of global challenges that have taken a toll on our individual and collective mental health. We’ve seen the stigma that surrounds mental health begin to lift among our younger generation and though we have much work to do to eliminate it, the entire world is starting to recognize that there is no health without mental health – and we are watching as young people fiercely lead this movement. In this context, Myriad Canada is proud to announce a new 2.5-year project with the Born This Way Foundation for a total budget of USD 2.2 million. The aim of this project is to support the well-being of young people by developing tools and resources for the promotion and prevention of mental health. Project activities include research and initiatives such as the "Channel Kindness" and the "Be There Certificate". Born This Way Foundation is a US non-profit organization co-founded and led by Lady Gaga and her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, to support youth mental health across the globe. "Through high impact programming, youth led conversations and strategic, cross-sectoral partnerships, we aim to make kindness cool, validate the emotions of young people, and eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health." #mentalhealth #youth #bornthisway To find out more about our projects and impact stories, visit our Newsroom here: https://lnkd.in/eWy_Sjpx Myriad Alliance Fondation Roi Baudouin Myriad USA Give2Asia Myriad Australia The Gift Trust New Zealand

[Myriad Canada's new project to address youth homelessness in Los Angeles] Los Angeles County, with its sprawling urban landscape, is witnessing a dramatic escalation in youth homelessness, exacerbated by rising housing costs, insufficient public welfare programs, and a pervasive gap in social services. The 2023 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count indicates a 10% increase in homelessness, with young people disproportionately affected. These vulnerable youths often come from backgrounds of foster care or juvenile detention and lack the familial or community support needed to transition into stable adulthood. The stark economic realities and social inequities create a complex environment where traditional support mechanisms are often inadequate. In this context, Myriad Canada is pleased to announce a new project with Safe Place for Youth (SPY), which aims to increase access to stable and affordable housing for youth people, enhance their employability and educational achievements, and establish a robust support system for mental health and substance abuse issues. Safe Place for Youth is a Los Angeles-based organization dedicated to supporting and empowering homeless youth. Over the past decade, SPY has made a profound impact on the lives of numerous young individuals across Los Angeles through a variety of supportive services. The organization’s efforts are aimed at reducing youth homelessness, promoting self-sufficiency, and enhancing the overall quality of life for vulnerable youths. #youth #homelessess #housing #employability #mentalhealth To find out more and support this project: https://lnkd.in/e4eKDej9 Myriad Alliance Fondation Roi Baudouin Myriad USA Give2Asia Myriad Australia The Gift Trust New Zealand

[World Humanitarian Day 2024 – 19 August 2024🌎] Today is World Humanitarian Day 2024. We honour humanitarian workers who risk their lives to bring aid to the world’s most vulnerable populations. 👉 At Myriad Canada, we recently opened a “Protect Humanitarians Fund” whose objectives are to provide, in emergency situations, medical, material and legal support to humanitarian workers affected in the course of their duties; to develop the exchange and sharing of best practices among experts to strengthen the psychological and legal assistance provided to humanitarian workers who are victims of attacks, and to raise awareness among decision-makers and the general public of the need to protect humanitarian actors. 🤝 🏆 The King Baudouin Foundation and Myriad Alliance are proud to partner with the World Olympians Association (WOA) to launch an International Friends Fund. This new initiative helps Olympians continue their impactful work in society after their athletic careers. Many Olympians want to give back to their communities, both for the general good and often with a particular focus on sport. Through this fund, we enable global donations to support their philanthropic efforts. Our collaboration with the WOA, and our partners from Myriad USA , Myriad Canada, Myriad Australia and Give2Asia aligns perfectly with our mission at KBF 🙌 By leveraging our philanthropic instruments, we can channel generosity towards impactful projects that Olympians champion. Whether it’s fostering unity in Cyprus, combating childhood obesity in The Gambia, promoting active lifestyles in Lithuania, or supporting vulnerable children in Chile, these initiatives exemplify the Olympic spirit’s potential to transcend ethnic, religious, and social differences.
