Project Spotlight: Sussex Wind Farm 🌬️ This past summer, OSCO Concrete's Saint John and Moncton plants teamed up to successfully supply six wind farm bases. The Wocawson Wind Farm Project, located east of Sussex, NB, required meticulous planning and coordination to deliver enough concrete for the six 450m³ bases. Our Saint John plant began batching at 4am, with trucks ready for the 6am delivery. Trucks from Saint John and Moncton worked in sync to ensure a steady flow of concrete. Each company had a concrete pump on-site, and our teams worked together to avoid pour lines and cold joints. To maintain the quality of the concrete, ice was added to the mix to keep the temperature below 20°C. We used a high-performance 35 Mpa mix with superplasticizer and a long-life set retarder. Mechanics, tire, and Quality Control staff were on-site to ensure smooth operations. Each plant initially committed 12 trucks per day but ended up contributing 13-14 trucks daily. Despite the remote location and challenging conditions, our teams completed the project efficiently, with only one weather-related delay. The job wrapped up in June, showcasing the power of collaboration and dedication. Kudos to all involved! 👏
