About us
Taking care of one's mental health should be as universally understood, and accepted, as telling someone that you're going to the gym to workout. Our Mental Health Club is being created as a peer powered virtual community hub and resource platform; where members from across North America can visit anytime and ‘Workout What’s On Their Mind’. Personal stories of lived experience, shared by celebrities and other influential advocates, is a starting point in implementing storytelling as interim medicine for so many facing challenges to their mental health. Realizing that those we admire have struggled too, can foster a new kind of understanding and remove friction on someone’s path to treatment. Our Mental Health Club is focused on alleviating stigma associated with seeking support for mental wellness, serving as a bridge toward mental health resources, as well as advocating for fair representation of mental illness in media and entertainment. — Advisory Board — Jeff Gomez - CEO, Starlight Runner Annalee Belle: Celebrity Makeup Artist, Blogger, Model Carole Crotty: General Council, Spitz Group & Member, California Bar Association Dominic Akena: Associate Producer, Deloitte Canada Jason Parker: Fixed Income & Spread Product Strategist

"People who have anxiety are constantly thinking into the future. You're constantly, 'What if this happens? What if that happens?' You're always telling yourself stories. So when we're shooting Deadpool & Wolverine, I'm not just shooting the movie, I'm also sitting in the audience as a cautious critic going, 'I don't like that. I don't buy that.' So anxiety creates that ecosystem of awareness that I wouldn't otherwise [have]." — Ryan Reynolds in PEOPLE Magazine | PEOPLE.com https://lnkd.in/gAzYqCsG #anxiety #mentalhealth

"We have so many questions that have no answers. But one. Was Grayson loved? The answer is yes. By us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, by his friends, by his fellow players and - it seems - by many of you who are reading this. He was loved and he will be missed." — Eric and Terry Murray, Parents of Grayson Murray ⛳️ #suicide #mentalhealth #mentalillness https://lnkd.in/g-_86kFv

‘Storing information may be valuable in many ways. For example, when you experience a great shock, you may not have much of a chance to analyze what happened (and potentially what went wrong) in the moment. By storing a memory of the event, it gives you information you can think about later to help prevent you from experiencing a similar unpleasant surprise in the future.’ Art Markman for Fast Company 🧠 https://lnkd.in/eDaG6ph9 #memory #memories #brains

‘In a statement through Chris Simon’s former agent Paul Theofanous, Simon’s family said he died by #suicide. “The family strongly believes and witnessed firsthand that Chris struggled immensely from CTE which unfortunately resulted in his death,” the statement read. #CTE, also known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy, is a progressive degenerative disease that affects individuals with repeated concussions and multiple traumatic brain injuries.’ — Daniel Trainor, Us Weekly https://lnkd.in/ggD5cAFb

‘After each mental health day, students submit a short, written reflection (one to two paragraphs) on how they spent their time. There are no assigned activities, but there are two nonnegotiables: no sleeping and no studying for other classes.’ —Ashley Mowreader, Inside Higher Ed https://lnkd.in/gfNDQeVP #mentalhealth #education

‘First Lady Rosalynn Carter developed an interest in mental health issues, in part because of childhood memories of a distant cousin in Plains who was in and out of a state mental institution. She served as a member of the Governor’s Commission to Improve Service for the Mentally and Emotionally Handicapped. She helped establish 134 day-care centers for the state’s mentally disabled residents, and she volunteered at the Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta to gain further firsthand experience with the problems of the mentally ill.’ —Joe Holley & Kevin Sullivan for The Washington Post 🧠⭐️♥️ https://lnkd.in/em4d8sKM
