RCMP Open Government Office launches first public consultation on PlaceSpeak The RCMP's Open Government Office is excited to announce the launch of the pilot of its online public consultation platform. This initiative marks a crucial step in fostering greater transparency and engagement with the communities we serve. We invite all members of the public to participate by sharing their feedback on the Draft Transparency Policy. The consultation will remain open until November 22, 2024. The Draft Transparency Policy, developed by the RCMP's Open Government Office, lays the foundation for a more open, accountable, and responsive organization. It seeks to promote a culture of transparency while ensuring a careful balance between openness and security among the government and the public. By participating in this consultation, you have a direct opportunity to shape the future of how the RCMP operates, ensuring our policies reflect the values and expectations of Canadians. We understand that the public's voice is vital in this process. That is why we are actively seeking feedback from individuals across the country to guide our decision-making and ensure that the resulting policy aligns with public needs. This initiative is part of our broader commitment to act with integrity, take responsibility, and increase public trust. By being open and transparent in our actions, we strengthen the bond with the communities we serve, upholding our core values and mandate for accountability. We have partnered with a secure online consultation platform designed specifically to facilitate public participation. The platform ensures that all feedback is confidential and anonymous while verifying that participants are real individuals. The separation between identity verification and privacy ensures that you can share your views freely without concern about personal data being collected. The RCMP will only gather feedback related to the policy and will not collect any personal information during this process. We encourage the public to take part in this important consultation. Your insights and suggestions will play a critical role in shaping RCMP governance and helping us build policies that are transparent, fair, and reflective of the communities we serve. By participating, you are helping to forge a stronger, more accountable RCMP. If you'd like to participate, submit your feedback by November 22, 2024, through our secure online platform at https://lnkd.in/eVt78PyN. https://lnkd.in/gb5M5pyF

About us
From urban planning to public transportation, from resource development to budgets, public and private sector organizations at all levels need to consult with real, relevant citizens and stakeholders. However, when engaging online – particularly on controversial projects or initiatives – how can you be confident that feedback is coming from members of the community, and not from online bots or trolls? Developed with the support of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC-IRAP) since 2011, PlaceSpeak revolutionizes online citizen engagement by taking the guesswork out of online engagement. Its unique geo-verification technology connects participants’ digital identity to their physical location, giving decision-makers the confidence that they are hearing from, and prioritizing feedback from, real people within the proposed project area. By facilitating the collection of verifiable, high-quality feedback, PlaceSpeak empowers public and private sector organizations to make accurate, well-informed and defensible decisions. At PlaceSpeak, user privacy is of utmost importance. PlaceSpeak was architected with Privacy by Design principles in mind – which means that privacy is always the default. We fund our free civic network by charging organizations conducting consultations a license fee. Unlike Facebook and Google, we do not sell advertising; unlike market research firms, we do not sell our users’ personal information. By allowing citizens to make a meaningful impact in an open, safe, secure and transparent manner, PlaceSpeak advances civic engagement to a whole new level and enables evidence-based decision-making. Instead of one-off consultations, PlaceSpeak breaks down silos and makes democracy habit-forming by connecting people with one another and the places where they live, work and play.

Vancouver residents, What are YOUR key issues and questions for candidates in the October 2024 provincial election? Help shape the public discussion! Today, in the leadup to the October 2024 provincial election, CityHallWatch has launched its first ever voter engagement survey. For this election, advance voting days are Oct 10 – 13 and Oct 15 – 16, and final voting day is Oct 19. Provincial elections come only every four years, so they are a rare opportunity for British Columbians to exercise their democratic powers and choose who is to represent them. In choosing who to vote for, voters typically balance their choice between choice of political party and choice of individual candidate. Mainstream pollsters and media typically have their own framing of the election issues, but we’d like to try our own approach to discover the concerns voters have in their own communities. The local concerns within an electoral district could be much more nuanced than what’s covered in the big media. CityHallWatch will use the survey results, by electoral district, to guide our coverage in the weeks and days leading up to final voting day. The findings may also be useful for groups organizing candidates’ debates or meetings in a specific riding. For this survey, we are using PlaceSpeak, a location-based civic engagement platform designed to consult with people within specific geographic boundaries. Developed with the support of the NRC-IRAP, it is based on online proof of residency and privacy-by-design principles. PlaceSpeak is the first to earn a TrustMark from the Digital Governance Council of Canada in recognition of its approach to authenticating online engagement. To take the survey and engage people are required to take a short process to register with the platform. Survey link: https://lnkd.in/gWGc7-Ga https://lnkd.in/g3BeRVqS
