Last week I had the pleasure of speaking at Platform Media & Management Inc.'s #PlatformSocial event ✨. I represented Pinterest on a panel alongside brilliant women from TikTok, YouTube, Hill & Knowlton and Platform Media & Management Inc., and we spoke about future-proofing your influence (what a dream😍). It’s so rare that we all come together and share our unique perspectives side by side. I loved hearing how different platforms and agencies are not only approaching content creation today, but how they are thinking about the future of our industry. Each platform has its own strengths and value prop - and that was definitely apparent on our stage. The smartest creators are the ones leaning into each, for their different offerings, based on their specific goals. To #creators, I always say it’s about working smarter, not harder. I loved speaking about Pinterest's new features that enable creators to do this; like our Instagram account claiming feature (allowing you to easily bring your content from Instagram to Pinterest) and our board sharing feature (that transforms your Pinterest board into a visually compelling video or photo to drive traffic and engagement back to your board). We also brought Pinterest Collages to life at #PlatformSocial! Creators and marketers manifested their dreams and made their visions a reality by creating take-home sticker collages. (If you haven't made a collage on Pinterest yet, what are you waiting for? I’m still reflecting on the incredible networking event I attended on October 10th, 2024, in Toronto! As a public relations professional, I found the day filled with invaluable insights that will definitely shape my approach to influencer marketing. Here are some standout moments: 1. Building Your Community - I was inspired by the emphasis on creating authentic connections. In PR, understanding our audience is key, and this session reinforced the importance of genuine engagement. 2. Shared Values - This panel highlighted how aligning with brands that share our core values can lead to stronger, more authentic campaigns. It’s a powerful reminder of the role we play in crafting narratives that resonate. Some great insights shared by Monique Shekarchi 3. Future-Proofing Your Influence - Learning about strategies to adapt in a fast-paced digital world of TikTok and YouTube Shorts was eye-opening. My biggest take away was be authentic, have fun creating the content and don't worry about the algorithm. Leverage AI to improve your content not to replace it. 4. What Influencers Really Want - Hearing from influencers about their needs and expectations in collaborations was invaluable. This perspective is crucial for creating successful partnerships in PR. The networking opportunities were fantastic!
