Today at our annual #PinterestPresents Advertiser Summit, we unveiled Pinterest Performance+, our  new suite of AI and automation tools that help advertisers increase campaign performance, while making it easier and quicker for them to create campaigns. And just in time for the holiday shopping season, we’ve launched new ways for advertisers to offer their customers discounts on Pinterest through sales and promotional features. With all these new performance features, we’re helping over half a billion Pinterest users go from discovery and inspiration to action.  A huge thanks to everyone who joined us. Read more about today’s #PinterestPresents announcements and be sure to check out the recap: https://lnkd.in/gv2pTa97

There’s no question social media has played a huge role in the youth mental health crisis. At Pinterest, we’ve taken meaningful actions to protect young people on our platform and bring companies together to make the Internet safer and healthier for everyone. But no one - not the tech industry, not policymakers, not parents - can fix this crisis alone. Earlier last week I hosted Jonathan Haidt, author of The Anxious Generation, in our New York office for a Q&A session with our employees around the world. He and I agree there’s no one silver bullet to fix the negative impact devices and social media are having on our kids’ mental health, but if we have any hope of showing change is possible, it has to be done through the collective action of industry, regulators and parents. As Jon said on Tuesday, it’s clear that people are finally “ready for change.” It’s time we all step up.

At Pinterest we’re proving it’s possible to do well by doing good. There is a real business model in positivity! I had the honor of sharing that perspective on stage with Chelsea Clinton this week at the Clinton Global Initiative. There is so much more work to be done to address the youth mental health crisis. It was extremely encouraging to see the tremendous amount of public/private partnership at CGI for this purpose, including the Youth Mental Health Corps that we helped launch in partnership with AmeriCorps, the Schultz Family Foundation and America Forward.

Here's a sneak peek: "I’ve been at Pinterest for three delightful years. I’ve worn a couple of different hats over the last few years, but it’s always been a cute social media hat! I’m currently a Strategy Lead on the Social Marketing team. We are storytellers, and I’m proud of being able to work for a brand that prioritizes positivity above all else. Parental controls alone are not enough to protect teens online. It is too complicated and parents can’t keep up.  We need to make it much simpler for parents. I am calling on tech companies and policymakers to finally address the barely-there age verification that plagues our industry. The technology to do so exists. Our children are counting on us. It’s time. https://lnkd.in/gtiiRFPT

Pinterest is open for business in 30 new markets across the world and advertisers gathered in Dubai this week to experience our full suite of products in person. 2024 is Pinterest’s biggest year in the Middle East so far, with engagement driven primarily by home decor, fashion, and travel trends. Searches for “trips to Austria,” “1980's fashion,” and “Gothic make-up” are top trends our Middle Eastern-based users are tracking. Dubai is just the beginning - we have advertising summits planned across the globe with our local partners throughout the fall. Advertisers can work with our partners including DMS (Digital Media Services | CG brand) to strategize and advertise on Pinterest, reaching an audience looking to take action and shop. With the entire Pinterest advertising suite now available to brands in these regions, we are offering full funnel solutions designed to help brands create high-performing campaigns in new markets.

At Pinterest, the future of work is flexible. We give our employees the autonomy to work from where they are most productive - be that at home or in the office - and we are intentional about when we bring them together in one of our world-class offices to meet, collaborate, and connect. At last week’s Forbes #ForbesFutureofWork Summit, I talked about how our PinFlex benefit helps our employees decide for themselves how best to balance responsibilities. PinFlex has also been a crucial factor in driving our diverse hire efforts. Before covid, over three-quarters of our talent was local to the San Francisco Bay Area. But in the past year, 63% of our new hires came from regions outside of the Bay Area. Seventy-nine percent of Black, Indigenous, Latiné, Native Hawaiian, and/or Pacific Islander new hires joined us from locations beyond the Bay Area. I am proud to be part of this company and work for a CEO like Bill Ready who is so committed to flexibility here at Pinterest. Come join us! https://lnkd.in/gjHJfakw
