This week, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce is proud to be on site at #PDAC2025, where we've launched our new Mining Policy Council. Minerals have become one of Canada's largest exports - behind petroleum and comparable to the automotive industry - and highly strategic to our future competitiveness as the energy transition accelerates. That's why I was excited to moderate a panel of industry leaders as we announced Ontario’s Mining Future 2030, a groundbreaking collaboration with our members and partners. Our panel included our co-chairs, Andre Leite of Agnico Eagle Mines Limited and Marla Tremblay of MineConnect, joined by Priya Tandon of the Ontario Mining Association . Yesterday, we officially launched Ontario’s Mining Future 2030, a groundbreaking initiative led by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with our Mining Initiative and Council Partners.   We kicked things off with an insightful panel featuring Andre Leite (Agnico Eagle Mines Limited), Marla Tremblay (MineConnect), and Priya Tandon (Ontario Mining Association )—hosted by Daniel Tisch, APR, FCPRS, ICD.D, President and CEO of the OCC. Yesterday, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) launched its new mining initiative, Ontario’s Mining Future 2030, including a first-of-its-kind policy council aimed at ensuring the province remains a global leader in mining, critical minerals, and the clean economy.   “At a time when global demand for critical minerals is increasing, Ontario has an opportunity to lead. This new initiative will drive evidence-based policy recommendations and actions to unlock investment, enhance regulatory certainty, strengthen partnerships between industry, Indigenous communities, and government, and address workforce shortages.” - Daniel Tisch, APR, FCPRS, ICD.D, President and CEO of the OCC.
