Praxis Spinal Cord Institute, in collaboration with the Health Standards Organization (HSO), is proud to support the recent release of the CAN/HSO S3402:2024 – Integrated People-Centred Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program standard, which consolidates and replaces the previous 2012 standards for acute and rehabilitation care. The new standard emphasizes the delivery of people-centred care by integrated teams across the care continuum, ensuring that individuals with SCI receive high-quality, personalized care throughout their recovery, aligned with their goals and needs. Acute and rehabilitation hospitals are now able to adopt the new SCI standard and start to integrate it into their accreditation processes as part of the Global Qmentum Program. Praxis continues to work collaboratively with the HSO and Accreditation Canada to promote the use of SCI Standards across Canada. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/gsUQm6Z5

Big News! Congratulations to Dr. Joanna Stanicka and the Axonis Therapeutics team on closing their $115 million Series A financing. This support will contribute to the advancement of AXN-027, a groundbreaking oral treatment that aims to tackle paralysis, pain, and spasticity. Praxis SCI Incubate is proud to have had Axonis in its SCI Incubate cohort. On working with Praxis, Dr. Joanna Stanicka says "Praxis helped me connect with people living with SCI, and provided mentorship within the SCI field on the mistakes that have occurred before for SCI clinical trials. The team highlighted the need to consult with SCI Community early on to learn what outcomes they want to see through our trials. This saved millions of dollars in development both in time and funds and helped drive towards our next fundraise.” Praxis is proud to play a critical role at an important phase of Axonis' development — and hopes this is the beginning for improved financing and investment in improving outcomes for people living with paralysis. https://lnkd.in/dpn_E9Ns Arushi Raina

[ISNCSCI Update] The ISNCSCI exam offers a standardized approach for assessing the level and severity of spinal cord injuries. In partnership with AMERICAN SPINAL INJURY ASSOCIATION, Praxis has contributed to creating an ISNCSCI workbook, which presents multiple exam scenarios while emphasizing key classification rules, definitions, and nuances. Each case example includes all 134 scores from the exam, alongside detailed explanations for each variable. This resource is designed to help healthcare providers gain a deeper understanding of the ISNCSCI exam. Learn more about the workbook here: https://lnkd.in/giuQszAM

Walking is an important outcome measure after a spinal cord injury. To help clinicians assess a person’s potential to walk independently a year after their injury, a team of data scientists, clinicians, and researchers developed the Ambulation Calculator. This web-based tool uses clinical exam data to predict the likelihood of independent walking at the 1-year mark. Learn more about the Ambulation tool here and test it out https://lnkd.in/gvcrn7Yu Through the RHSCIR network, the Ambulation Calculator continues to drive advancements in SCI research and care. #Praxis #AmbulationApp #RHSCIR #RegistrySCI #DataStudies
