Ending unpriced carbon emissions could mark a turning point for global #ClimateAction.   A shift toward full #CarbonPricing would mean every business, from small firms to large industries, rethinking how they approach emissions.   Last month, Emergent joined the Reduce and Invest coalition, which encourages CEOs to take responsibility for all emissions in their value chains by investing in high-integrity carbon credits, alongside #decarbonization plans. Last week at #ClimateWeekNYC, we announced that Pará had become the first state in Brazil to secure #LEAFCoalition finance to support their efforts to reduce deforestation.   The collaborative approach of the LEAF Coalition, which brings together actors across the public and private sectors, is key to achieving its objective of protecting tropical forests at scale.   The forest governments, corporate partners, donor governments and civil society organizations that make up the LEAF Coalition each have an essential role to play in channelling finance to protect tropical forests, their biodiversity and the Indigenous Populations and local communities at the forefront of forest protection.   This is a huge achievement for all involved, and paves the way for more agreements to bring in public-private sector finance at the scale required.   Here’s what some of our key partners said about the announcement. #Deforestation #JREDD #ClimateAction #Brazil

On Tuesday evening, the #LEAFCoalition celebrated the announcement of a landmark agreement with Pará to secure finance from the LEAF Coalition to support its efforts to reduce deforestation – the first in Brazil. We could not be prouder of our team, and we congratulate the government of Pará and all involved for the hard work, collaboration and #ClimateLeadership shown in reaching this landmark achievement. Commenting on the agreement, Governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho remarked, “Being the first Brazilian state to sign an agreement with the LEAF Coalition is proof of the success of our policies to combat deforestation and transition to a more sustainable and greener economic model. Reaching a price of $15 per ton, well above current market levels, demonstrates buyers' confidence in the effectiveness of our efforts and the high integrity of the credits we are generating.
